I should update occasionally, shouldn't I?
As some of you may know, I'm in Ottawa, and have been back for a few days. Contact me, as always, at 234-5429. Glad to be out of that last patch of midterms, and I'm relaxing back home.
I've come across a few interesting things while surfing the Inter-Web, like the
Church of the SubGenius, who's whose ministers include David Byrne - actually, for $30, anyone can become a minister. If I had the money, I would definitely do so.
Also, I was enlightened (through
Boing Boing, really a fantastic and multifaceted blog) as to the existence, history, and significance of the "
Amen Break". This is a familiar sounding six-second drum solo in the middle of the B-Side to a 1969 single by a funk group called The Winstons. It is familiar sounding because it has been sampled, separated, tinkered with, and played in countless hip hop, electronica, and dance music since the late 1980's.
Fascinating stuff, really... and I appologize for the grammatical structure of this post, as I'm reaaaaaallly tired right now.
