This conversation pretty much illustrates everything that was beautifully, epically right about today:
Duckie: Can I tell you the funny my little brother just made?

I was amazed that for such a huge, huge crowd everyone was as polite as they could be. There was the accidental push as someone tried to get by but always followed by "oops I'm sorry." And it was everyone...old, young, white, black whatever. EVERYONE. A friend of mine was a wee bit drunk and kept shouting at kids "REMEMBER THIS!!!" Luckily their parents just laughed, they were probably saying the same thing to the kids anyway.
We knew it was going to be huge but standing there in a sea of just wall to wall people was awesome. I loved it. I can't wait till we get to do it again.

For this very reason, I walked a good portion of the parade route before I settled in a spot. I just wanted to see it all, get a little piece of the whole thing.

Today the parade organizer, Kern, was quoted on WWL estimating that eight hundred thousand people showed up. And that's not even taking into account the ones who didn't make it because they were stalled in bumper-to-bumper traffic for miles and miles. I can't even... I mean, wow. The entire metropolitan area is just over a million.
And omigod omigod have you seen this?!

I really wanted to go out last night on the very off chance that some players were out and about and to hang out with people but I think I'm getting sick. Of course I would be since its mardi gras and I finally have days off and my favorite parade is tomorrow. d'oh!

You have any beads left for a Kimmer?
Did you have to cancel your big date?

I do have beads left for a Kimmer! You want 'em? 'Cause after all these Mardi Gras, I never keep them anymore.
The big date got completely overshadowed by the parade. :) No going out dancing for a Duckie.
