I grew up listening to sportscaster Buddy Diliberto mangling the English language on the local radio, talkin bout dem Saints and referring to callers as "squirrels" if they said something stupid. "When you go to Heaven after you die," Buddy D. once said, "tell St. Peter you're a Saints fan. He'll say, 'C'mon in, I don't care what else you done, you suffered enough.'"
He also promised that he'd parade through town in a dress if the Saints ever went to the Superbowl.
Buddy died of a heart attack a few years ago, but his successor - and thousands of other men - have fulfilled his promise. Yesterday Bobby Hebert, former Saints QB, led a parade of Who Dats in dresses around the Superdome. Some of my relatives were among the skirt-swinging masses.
No place else, man. No place else.
