You've taken on more work than a man can do, more pressure than a man can bear, and more expectation than a man can fulfill. I don't envy you, but nor do I expect perfection. I wish you backbone, I wish you luck, and most of all I wish you wisdom.

Long road ahead, dude.

And are you seriously playing the theme from "The Patriot" at your acceptance speech?

Because I'm fangirling you so hard right now for that.

I don't expect this election to save America. Hell, I don't even expect significant political change to come out of this. We're going to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan, the consequences of our crap economic choices are going to bite us in the ass no matter who is in office, and government power will continue to expand as it has been doing for nearly a century. Business as usual.

But I must admit - Senator Obama spoke of our singular destinies and our common hopes, and I smiled through tears.

It's been a remarkable night.
