boring stuff
My cousin was having a house warming party/her daughter's graduation from New Mexico State on Saturday. My 3:30am ride was canceled due to weather and wifery problems. I rode my bike out there, North of the interstate but still in Lincoln, I think. I ride up to the driveway and I see some people sitting around a table in the garage all looking at me like I'm from another planet... well...
I go in the house after my cousin's husband finally recognizes me. My two of my cousin and my aunt are all happy to see me and want hugs... but it was humid and I was a little drenched. I towel off and cool down. Then it begins. My cousin's daughter's son runs into the room. Awesome mohawk little dood. He seems unsure at first but after a couple minutes he's pulling me around the house, oh btw he's two years old. We play with cars, read books about trucks and make sure the rocking horse has his cowboy hat on straight. Uh oh, potty time. Apparently only two people in the world can help with this, my cousin or her daughter. My cousin knows the alarm well and runs through the crowd to make sure his business is handled properly.
Then it's sit down at the table and tell embarrassing stories from yesteryear. Yeah yeah, when I was a tot I would only eat McDonalds or I would throw a fit. Thanks for bringing that back up. My how times have changed. I found out that when my mom was a tot, she would sleep in the weirdest places. On the farm, my grandparents had a gas tank for the tractor and stuff. I guess my mom fell asleep under it. Her brothers and sisters (14 of them) looked all over the farm but couldn't find her.
So my second cousin, the graduate, and I have never met... that I can recall. She's 27 and my cousin was having me be in pictures with her. That seemed awfully strange. By the time I left my second cousin was calling me cousin and getting my phone number... hopefully because she's going to UNL and would like some help on campus. Axel, the two year old, thought my bike was the coolest thing ever. He just looked on in awe as I rode back into town. Other cool things about Axel, he likes museums, prisms, un-cut cake (he doesn't like it when people slice up the cake cuz that's ruining it) and ROBOTS! He must have had a transformer toy hopping on me for about an hour. "Robot! Robot! Robot!"
Hmmm... Sunday, rode down to Cortland and back. Went to the Zoo and one of the bartender's dad was having retirement party. I don't know the guy but he gave a wonderful speech at the end. I can't remember it all but it was about a mule, his life and his wife. Nuff said.
