The past few months have been, like most of the epochs in my life, peppered with moments both high and low. Each new day I am more disinterested with my job at Radioshack then the last. My primary comfort at work comes from the solidarity I have with a few of my coworkers who also have come to detest their jobs.
But let me back track a little bit.
Thanksgiving saw arrival of the RIT crew. Chris, Will, Alex and Zack rolled into town and managed to cause a great deal of strife between the locals and even some of the not so locals. Throughout most of their visit I peered through blurry eyes stung from excessive cigarette smoke. My mind and body remained dulled from too much whiskey and my inhibitions all but vanished after I was once again in proximity to those who were all but blood to me. In a fashion so appropriate for them, they arrived like wild dervishes, but they left solemnly; the best of friends.
That they spent Thanksgiving with my family was all the indication I needed to understand that these were true friends. I kept that observation of friendship in mind when I was more than prepaired to bloody my fists against a former high school pal who spoke out against Will.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
My best friends will always know that none shall speak ill of them in my presense without a swift lesson in loyalty.
As always, I remain unworthy of the company I keep.
