I read this and understand it.
"The ontology underlying Paul’s preaching valorizes nonbeings against beings, or rather, it establishes that, for the subject of a truth, what exists is generally held by established discourses to be nonexistent, while the beings validated by these discourses are, for the subject, nonexistent." (Alain Badiou, Saint Paul: The Foundation of Universalism.)
On the other hand, I may very well be writing my last seminary paper. I've got about 76 hours done out of 90, but this year the school has shifted to a 78 hour Masters of Divinity degree. I don't yet know the details of how to switch from one to the other, whether it's possible and whether I meet all the requirements, but I'm holding out hope that I'm now 2 credit hours away from graduating rather than 14. I'd rather be focusing on the job that I love and has nothing to do with my degree program than churning out papers on Paul and Postmodern Theology.
