Title: she would rather be a riddle
Fandom: LOST
Characters: Mother/Claudia
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 108
Summary: There's a part of her that's still human. (prompt - match, written for lost_in_108)

She simply accepts Claudia's presence, vague and familiar like old dreams of past lives. Claudia reads over her shoulder as she captures legends in her tapestry, blunt truths hidden under frayed metaphors.

They trade pointless banter, eroding away layers of dust inside her, revealing a childish streak Rebekah was sure she'd grown out of.

When the island is loudest in her head, Claudia pulls her down, hand soft on her neck, fingers tangling with coarse curls as she reminds her to be human.

Claudia murmurs her name with a certainty she's only heard from prophets and dead gods, and the taste of smoke slowly fades from her mouth.
