There's nothing familiar about this, except for the guilt Jack's hands push into her hips. Sun reaches for a gun that's not there, knocking over a vase. Harsh kisses grind their polite lies to dust.

Sleeping in the next room is the mirror Sun keeps of herself. Jack has one of his own, flies halfway around the world to avoid seeing himself in big blue eyes. They down expensive whiskey and pray children aren't destined for their parents' mistakes.

Jack wraps fingers around broken glass and wilted petals. "Do you believe in-"

Ghosts, fate, second chances. She knows him.

"I don't believe in anything."

They are exactly alike.
