It's funny how you interpret the pairing as something sort of nice (which I love, by the way. It's nice to seem some awkward tenderness from Samuel), and I always translate the two as something negative.

This is really good. I like how Jacob forces her to bathe, like he can't stand the idea of anyone touching her. And the whole purity bit is very well done. Oh Ilana.

I see a kind of Jack-Kate-Sawyer dynamic going on with these three. Jacob/Ilana sounds like the better deal in theory, but gets gets rather messy in practice, while Ilana/Samuel sounds like a potential disaster but they end up with this understanding between them because they are so much alike.

Thank you! I'm glad you like that part. I love playing with the idea of Jacob falling hard for people he's not allowed to have, and having a hard time coming to grips with that.
