Well, it's all in the wording. [Oh lord, you've gotten the writer talking about words. He's gesticulating and everything, with one hand waving a sandwich around.] And inflection. The hesitation, the usage of "of some sort" implies something different than saying "Oh, you've been friends for so long blah blah blah," and the former is more true than the latter. It's weird dimensional stuff, you know? I'm not the version of me I was supposed to be.

Well... it's kind of hard to explain. He's from an alternate future, and I think the me- or the Chuck- in that future knew him better. [Nice and light and vague and tra la la, because Cas' business ain't your business, stranger, not as far as Chuck's concerned. He keeps his secrets for a reason.]
