Remember Me

Remember Me

In daylight hours I walk among the men,
Nothing more, nothing less than just a friend.
From what I was and what I used to be,
Now forever changed when you had set me free.
When against my will you unchained my heart,
No longer bound, it shattered and fell apart.

In daylight hours I push the pain aside,
Keeping the pace and lengthening my stride.
Little by little it wears on my soul,
Stealing my obolus for Charon's toll.
And though I look for another to love,
They weren't sent like you from Heaven above.

In daylight hours I walk among the men,
Remember me, remember me, my friend.

In moonlit hours I pad among the trees,
To and fro, a shadow upon the breeze.
I glance up to the pale moon in the sky,
Wondering, pondering the question why.
Did it truly so have to be this way?
Why, why couldn't you have told me to stay?

In moonlit hours your memory remains,
And what I had, the pleasures and the pains.
You were worth it all, ev'rything I did,
Letting go my morals though God forbid.
I'll never regret ever loving you,
And will forgive you what you've put me through.

In moonlit hours I pad among the trees,
Remember me, do remember me...please.
