This Week
has been quite boring. I haven't been able to out as I've had a man in to do the bathroom. It has been looking a complete mess since the new suite was installed 2 years ago!! So now it looks all spiffy with new tiles, new floor, new radiator, shelves, cabinet etcw. I had underfloor heating put in as the floor is now tiled & I thought it might be cold. DS's finance says that's the sort of thing you see on Cribs which she tells me is an MTV prog about homes of obscenely rich rappers who have carpet in the fridge etc. I'm not sure if it's a seal of approval though! DH & I have spent the day filling, sanding, scrubbing, painting, 2nd coating. It's only a tiny room & it was so hot I left him to it & did some ironing. So now my bathroom walls are a lovely pale turquoise parade.
Tomorrow I get to do the woodwork while I wait for the gasman. See what an exciting life I lead;-))
Of course, a new bathroom needs new bits so I had a spend up in Ikea too.
I thought I might have got more reading done in my time at home. Instead I was trying to get to grips with Spanish verb endings without a great deal of success I fear.
Haven't heard about the assistant librarian job so must assume I haven't been shortlisted etc & there is nothing in the paper this week. Never mind. I made a decision & decided to grab the huge lump sum & pension from Abbey when I hit 50 next month. So that will keep me going a little bit longer.
DS is about to be jobless too. He is really fed up with at work & so applied for another job, got it so he handed in his notice. Then the other company ring & say they can't employ him as their insurance says all drivers must be 25 (he's 22). He doesn't want to withdraw his notice & he really doesn't want to stay. To make matters worse, he & 2 others were on a job delivering a huge fridge freezer on Thursday. There should have been 4 men & they weren't given the right tools & there was an accident. The fridge fell on them, one ended up with a broken wrist, the other a fractured rib & DS a bruised back & pulled muscles & signed off for a week. To top it all he has a job interview on Tuesday & can't find the paper part of his driving license! He feels the world is against him at the moment.
Back to the ironing then.
