It's Decided!

Well, it's decided.

We're moving to Lubbock! (Wow, I remember writing an entry on my OD over two years ago about my first move to live with my brother.) ^_^

We talked to the midget last night, and he's going to take over the lease on the apartment. My brother's coming down on Sunday the 26th, we're loading up our van and his truck, and we're hauling butt for the city. We're going to start working for the Elections Office that week, I think. (Shane wasn't entirely specific, but he'll have more details tonight.) That'll hold us while Neko tries to get in with the maintenance department, and I'll see about securing a position with the Elections Office. (They really liked me last time. ^_^ Here's hoping the same thing counts!) The place we're moving into is just across the street from my brother.
It's a trailer- Neko and I have both lived considerable amounts of our lives in trailers; no big deal- and it's *free* for the first two months. (Other than electric and propane.) All we have to do is a little upkeep work on the trailer, and then rent is a whopping $200 a month. *does a happy dance* It's a three bedroom, two bath trailer, which means we can have a guest room (in case of friend visitation,) a combination costume shop/study and have the master bedroom all to ourselves!
I'm actually really excited about this. Considering Neko can't find a job down here, and I loathe mine, the thought of both of us making $8.00 an hour to start is absolutely exciting. Two paychecks! And no rent for two months! Squee! *grin* Okay, granted I know what working for an Elections Office is like during an election, especially with this being the presidential. We'll be busting our asses OFF, but when I consider the monetary rewards, and the future we'll have will actually... Well hell, it'll actually BE a future! *squeal!*

I don't know if we're planning to live there forever, or if this'll be one of those 'five year' plans. Regardless, we'll be close to my brother, have a hella support net, making much better money, have a bigger place... and we'll be able to keep our babies. *clings to my four cats* Amazing how they became unspeakably more precious at the merest threat to their residence with us. *loves on them* This week is going to be... interesting. I have to call my mother, see if she'll take the cats for a week, start packing, decide what comes and goes, and get the midget on the lease. *laughing* This is going to be fuuuuuuuun. *reminder to self to turn in notice at work this afternoon* So cheers, no? At least at my brother's, we'll have some good internet access, and with any luck, in six months, Neko and I'll be living a higher life than we have now!
And yeah, we'll be going through the eye-twitch-y panic of leaving behind all that's familiar, and we'll be missing our families. (Neko more than I, simply because I haven't heard from my parents in months. *snerk*) However, this is one of those times where you've got a choice, and if you don't nab for the brass ring when it comes by, you'll spend years wondering why you let fear stand in the way. Cheers!!
