Okay, it's been a weird few days. I'm not sure where to begin, but... well, I guess I'll start at the beginning. The cool stuff!
The way of Killing the Air with Sticks continues to be very cool. I decided that I may as well spring for the full uniform, which I can buy from this place in town. Except that I don't know how to get there, or really that much about the layout of this town in general. (Oh, it's a grid of streets with boring names... on paper. Until you try to navigate it on that basis. Then, you get lost.)
So Debbie said that she'd show me around this weekend! Arr! I guess the weekend must be the only time that she's off work or something, since she said that that's when she was free... so we're hanging out then.
Arr!
Okay, that's the cool part.
This first one is stupid. I mean, really stupid.
My lawn doesn't seem to have grown. Well, that's not quite right. It gets cut.
But never when I'm home. I have no idea who cuts it. And there aren't any, uh signs that it gets cut. Like, those track marks in lawns that lawnmowers leave. Or the little bits of cut grass that lawnmowers produce. If someone has a theory, I could really use one, especially after the other weird thing.
I don't know how to explain this one. It's going to sound stupid, and then somebody sensible like spaz can explain to me how I'm being stupid, and I'll laugh at myself and relax. So don't hesitate to explain this one to me.
I saw the strangest thing happen with one of the empty houses.
It was late at night, and I heard a noise outside like some sort of dogfight, or something. So I looked out the window, and there was a large dog. It was snarling, and fighting against a weird assortment of animals-- a raccoon, a couple of cats, an opossum, and what I'd swear was a few chipmunks. They were all surrounding it, and it was backing away, towards one of the empty houses... and the front door of the house opened, and the other animals chased the dog inside, and the door slammed shut.
I guess it's not that weird that someone might be squatting in one of those houses, but seeing all those animals working together like that was really freaky. And they weren't even making any noise, or anything.
So, someone can come along now and explain to me what I saw, and that I'm being silly to be creeped out by all this.
Please.
Oh, and the squirrels are still crazy as ever. I'd swear that I heard 'em in the garage, even, although I don't see how. I haven't even seen them around outside-- I think they all just live inside the house. But squirrels, I can cope with.
