So I had something of a date today. It was a girl I had a class with last semester. She's a pastor's daughter.
I recieved a text from her as I was walking to school to meet her.
Yes, I was walking to school to meet her. My car is broken. Get off my back.
The text said "Hey I have a surprise for you so dont be afraid."
I know this should have set off alarm bells but I am apparently very trusting.
When I got there she was holding this grey scarf as if it somehow held great significance. Then, very quickly and smoothly, she ties the scarf around my eyes. I was left in the dark and wondering how many times she's done this before.
She escorts me over to a running car, which I assume contains her pastor father. I say "Hey," when I get in. Her pastor father says hello.
I was blindfolded for the entirety of the ride, which lasted 15 minutes. During the ride, her father and I talked about old movies and what kind of music I like. Classic rock, funk, and soul, by the way.
They were switching back and forth between English and Spanish the whole time. Spanglish is quite real, folks.
There were some speed bumps so I knew we were almost there. I took off my blindfold, and we were at Arden Fair Mall.
After that we got some food and had a pleasant date. Talked about our love-life problems and such.
I gave her three pieces of advice:
1) Don't date older guys. At our age, we're still growing and figuring out who we are, when you get into a relationship with someone who is older, they have too much influence.
2) Don't date Mormons. They're all so nice! There's something wrong there.
3) All of your guy friends are secretly in love with you. Love might be a strong word, but you know what I mean.
I almost kissed her at the end of it. She would have been OK with it, I could tell. I just...
On the ride back her father and I talked about The Beatles.
I'm just...
