An Artist and an Architect

Not done, but wendy threatened to delete it lol. So I'm putting it on here. Safe keeping I guess lol.

Chapter 1: Calm down, it’s okay

What should I do? We’d been fighting for weeks, months really. Who am I kidding? But it was time to put an end to all of it; it was time to take back what little dignity I had left and face the woman was helping to cause such turmoil. This was IT!
“Hey baby…” Those puppy dog eyes stared into mine for a lifetime and I felt sheepish suddenly. “I’m sorry…” but this was it! This was my moment to fight for my right to breathe the way I wanted to and I had to take it!!
Blue eyes quivered and my shoulders slumped in defeat. “Me too…” Scratch that, I had no dignity left. What was worth fighting for now?

“Hey, I’m Michelle. Do you mind if I sit with you? I don’t have a partner and I saw that you didn’t pair up either. I was hoping that maybe you needed one yourself.” There was no one else behind me but for some reason I couldn’t imagine she was talking to me. No way could it be me she wanted to partner up with. Sure I was cuter than I had been a year before - I had that surgery done to make my stomach the size of my thumb and had lost to date 134 lbs - but my self esteem was still completely shot. “Yeah, I’m talking to you.”
She laughed at how confused I was and sat when I nodded slowly, a huge smile on her face the whole while. An eyebrow rose on the girl and I looked around. What? Why was she looking at me like that? Did I have something on my face? Oh god, please, please tell me it’s not white or something…!
“I told you mine…” her voice took a flirty tone which had caught me off guard.
“What!?” The rest of the room looked up at me and she giggled a little.
“My name… you haven’t told me yours.”
“Oh, right…” Silence enveloped our conversation as we sat quietly for a moment. Again with the eyebrow! This girl was beginning to make me feel self conscious.
    “So, what is it?”
“Huh? Oh right! Andy… My name’s Andy. You can call me Andy…” Michelle laughed shortly and nodded.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Andy.” Her hand reached out for mine and I looked at it for a moment as if touching it would lead to eminent doom. Yes, I was doomed.  My rough hand touched that of the girl who had offered hers. It was soft leading me to the assumption that this girl had not worked a hard day of her life. “Are you any good at this art thing?”
“Sort of…” What had she meant by sort of? She didn’t draw that anime shit did she? God, I hoped she didn’t. “Are you?”
I laughed at the thought of me being a good artist and she laughed along. “I guess I made the wrong choice with that one…”
“Let’s just say that I’m an architect major, but I suck big time at the drawing part.” She smirked at the irony of my situation.
“All right class, thank you for pairing up. Our next few projects will require different artistic capabilities. I know you probably all think this is an art class and little stick figures will do just fine, but don’t even think for a second that my class will be like that. A lot of you are in here not as an elective but an actual course toward your degree. I want you to take this seriously because if you don’t I won’t hesitate to fail you.”
Jesus… who was this woman? I was taking this class as part of my degree but she was taking it to a whole other level. As if she sensed my pessimism of this teacher, Michelle leaned over and whispered into my ear. “Don’t worry. She’s always like this on the first day of school. I had her in high school. I swear she followed me here.”
I tried my best to smile but for some reason I could only focus on the goose bumps rising on my left arm from the girl’s breath blowing into my ear and her lips brushing against my skin. Thoughts of where else those lips could brush darted through my mind and smiled finally although I don’t think it was exactly the smile she was looking for. She did her signature eyebrow move and smirked a little this time.
Her eyes fell on my bare arm and she smiled more. “It’s cold in here. Wow, I mean… does anyone else think it’s cold in here?”
The teacher gave me a dirty look before she continued on with the lesson. “You’d do anything to get out of admitting it wouldn’t you?”
“Admitting what?” I tried my best to look as confused as possible but for some reason she saw right through it.
“That my breath on your ear-”
“Michelle! I expect more from you. And you, Mr. uh… Mr. Wright. Either sit down and shut up or get the hell out of my class.”
Michelle looked down and I stared up at the possessed woman a deer in headlights before nodding and looking back down.

Pleasant conversation continued between us the rest of the class period. Although it had only been a 50 minute class, I felt as if she knew more about me than Amanda did and the other way around.
“What did you say you’re majoring in again?” I had a sneaking suspicion that she was a lot more than “sort of” good at this art thing. After watching her doodle I realized that her skills exceeded those of anime, thank god.
“Class is over for the day. See you guys on Wednesday. Oh and since we didn’t get a chance to get to group work I want all of you to get together with your partners before next time. Now, get out!”
Michelle walked ahead of me out of the room but slowly enough as to tell me she was waiting for me. Once I had caught up with her she smiled to me and we walked next to each other toward the exit of the building. “Do you have a class right now or can you go for a walk?”
The idea of going for a walk with this beautiful girl made me blush a little and stumble out an answer. “W-well no I don’t have a class now and I would love-”
“Lyssy!!” I looked up although I didn’t have to and saw a blonde tackle me and jump into my arms.
“Hey sweetie…” She smiled to me and then looked back the girl standing in front us with a questioning glance at me.
    “Hey baby… who is this?”
My eyes closed as if on cue and I wondered why she had to come along right when things were going awesome between me and Michelle.
“Hi, I’m Michelle Ashebyll, and you are…” Michelle managed to keep her calm wonderfully which made me wonder if she just flirts with everyone she comes across.
Amanda grabbed me and pulled me closer. “I’m his fiancee… and how exactly did you two meet?” and the jealous girlfriend emerges. I couldn’t believe Amanda was acting like this. She had nothing to worry about, this girl was obviously not interested in me.
Both of them looked at me and waited for me to answer. I swallowed hard and sighed. “She’s my partner in Art and actually we were getting ready to go work on our project. Michelle, we can work on it in my studio. Baby, I’ll see you later.”
She grabbed my arm before I had a chance to walk. “First off, since when are there partners in Art class, second what project are you working on it’s only Monday, and third what the hell makes you think that I will allow you to be in a room alone with a girl like that?!”
“And what exactly do you mean by a girl like me?” Michelle took great offense to Amanda’s comment and showed no sign of holding back. “Our teacher told us to pair up, I thought your fiance was cute and he was alone, so I asked him to be my partner because I was alone. I didn’t know that he was taken and I’m sorry for that. If it makes you feel any better, I’m gay.”
My eyes closed as I was afraid of the explosion to come from Amanda. “You’re gay, huh? You have got to be the straightest gay girl I’ve ever seen.”
Michelle laughed at the comment and nodded. “Thanks. That’s what I go for. But if you saw my girlfriend you’d think differently. She is the most femme girl I’ve ever seen.”
“Oh! I have friends like that, where you can’t tell which one plays the man. I personally have to be with a butchy myself. Isn’t that right baby?” Michelle looked at me with the eyebrow again and I smiled slightly.
“Right, honey.” Before I had a chance to come up with something else to say, Amanda was telling Michelle secrets.
“I was gay until I met this hunk. Although I still tell him to use his fingers during sex. I never could get used to the man parts.” Michelle laughed and nodded.
I had to break this up. I had to get them away from each other. “I’m sorry but we have to get going, honey. Unless you want me to be out really late with a girl like that?”
“I don’t really care anymore. She’s gay so I guess I trust you.” Amanda winked to Michelle and I could tell she was flirting. “You’re all right, Michelle. If you ever want to come over and chill you more than welcome to.” I loved her for that gesture. Of course it was probably a gesture more for herself than me. I laughed and shook my head at her as I walked completely out of the building.
I was standing up against a tree when Michelle found me. It really sucked that she was gay, but at the same time… so was I in a sense. I was still a woman. Maybe some day I’d tell her.
“You’re girlfriend’s not as much of a bitch as I thought she was.” I laughed at her comment and we began walking together. “So, where is this studio of yours?” She followed my lead and I led her into the Architecture Building. “Wow.. This place is amazing.”
A smirk crossed my lips and I walked up behind her, whispering into her ear. “Well, this is the Architecture School.” Her body stiffened as she felt my lips against her ear and her breathing stopped completely. She slowly turned around and was inches away from my face. A serious look was plastered to her face and I wondered if maybe I had made the wrong decision.
She laughed suddenly and glared at me. “Smart ass! Now, show me to your room.” I sighed and walked over to a hallway on the left leading her along past a few doors before I reached mine. The door unlocked and I opened it, allowing her to go in first. “What a gentleman. Thank you, Sir.”
“Anytime, my lady.” When we were both inside the room I closed the door and walked over to my desk. She was looking at some of my sketches and I laughed.
“There’s a reason I’m taking art. I suck big time at it. I can get the models moving along well, I just cannot for the life of me do 2-D work.”
Michelle looked over at one of my models and smiled. “This is amazing. What is it?”
“A house?” It was different eyebrow raise than usual but for some reason it still did the trick.
    “I caught that. Whose house?”
I walked over next to her and smiled. “Mine. It’s not real… yet. But once I start my own business and I’m making millions I can afford to build it. I still haven’t worked on the basement yet or the pool. I’m so excited for the pool. It’s going to be indoors, right here next to the dining room and have glass walls reaching up to the second floor that way you can swim in the pool and look at the stars at the same time.
“Amanda’s afraid of the dark, so I designed a way for me to be able to the stars again. I used to have those fake glow in the dark one’s all over my ceiling. They would light up my room a lot, but it still wasn’t enough for her. I miss my stars.”
Michelle turned toward me for a second and looked me up and down before going back to the model. “Well, at least we know what you can do to contribute to project. You’re really good at this modeling thing.”
“Oh I wouldn’t go that far. I mean, it’s so sweet of you to say I’m cute and all but I’m not sure the rest of the world would agree. They’re probably not ready to this all over pictures.” Michelle laughed and sat at my desk.
“Let’s get to work, Wise Ass. What should we do for the project?”
I sat next to her for a moment unable to even recall the assignment. “Well, we could work on the 2-D stuff first and then I’ll do my modeling stuff…”
“You have no idea what she said today, do you?” A grin rose from ear to ear and I looked down.
“I blame you, Michelle. You distracted me all period by talking to me.”
“Sorry to be friendly. I thought you could need a new friend. I know I could.” there was a sadness in her voice and felt the need to touch her cheek. She watched my hand slowly move up towards her cheek and then placed on her shoulder instead.
“I appreciate it. In all honesty, I don’t have any friends. You’re a first and a good one at that. Are you sure you want to be friends with me though?”
She furrowed her brow and looked me up and down. “Why would I not? I like you. You’re really sweet and really funny and in some weird way I know I can trust you. It’s just this feeling I have. I like it.”
I smiled and looked at her for a moment before looking back down at my desk. “Did you listen at all, or are we screwed?”
“Sorry, I was distracted by you’re talking to me.” Sarcasm dripped from her words and she sighed. “Why don’t we give this another try tomorrow. I’ll just ask my roommate what we’re supposed to do tonight.”
So her roommate’s in class with us, how interesting… “You’re roommate has class with us? Then why didn’t you take her as your partner?”
A blush flew up on her cheeks and nose. “I uh… well, she already uh… okay, okay, I really wanted to get to know you because I see you in the back of the class everyday and you always look lonely and I’ve caught you looking at me before and I thought I might give it a try. I’m not looking to score or anything. I just thought maybe we could be friends because you look at me and I look at you so therefore we must have some kind of interest in one another, what better way to find out if we could be friends or not than by pairing up together? I told her to get someone else and then I went after you. I was only lucky that you hadn’t chosen a partner yet. But I did recall that you always waited for everyone else to settle down before you did something so I knew I had to snatch you-”
My finger pressed to her lips. They were so soft. A smile placed itself on my face and she looked down embarrassed that she had been rambling. “Whoa… easy there girl. It was just a simple question. No need for a complicated answer.” She was cute… and I couldn’t help but laugh at her.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to lie to you, it’s just I thought you might think I was weird or something for coming up to you and just asking you to be my partner. I thought I needed an excuse.”
“You never need an excuse to talk to me, okay? Just please remember that next time…?”
Her head slowly raised and she looked at me questioningly. “Next time?”
“You didn’t think I’d honestly use you and then go on with my merry way did you? I want to be friends with you. You’re a real sweetheart. Do you have anything to do now?”
She shook her head and smiled at me as I asked her to come over to my apartment and play a little guitar hero.

Chapter 2 : I can’t believe this!

“Woot woot!! Another win for me!” Amanda growled playfully and I hit my head on the couch I was sitting on. “This game is awesome!”
Amanda and I looked at each other and sighed. “Never ever EVER teach someone to play guitar hero again! They always end up beating us in the end!”
Michelle looked over at us with a grin from ear to ear. “I’m so excited! Can I play another one?” I laughed to myself and nodded. Right as I began to daydream about my best friend of three months again, there was a knock on the door.
“I’ll get it. Were you expecting someone, Manda?” She shook her head so I went and opened the door. “Oh my god, what are you doing here?!” I pushed my head outside the apartment next to the girl who was standing in our doorway looking for cameras, anything to tell me this was a prank.
“Oh my GOD, NES!” Before I knew what was happening I was pushed out of the apartment as Amanda jumped into Nes’ arms. Inside, Michelle kept looking back from her game to see what was going on, once she was sure she’d fail the song she quit and walked over.
Seeing me on the ground she giggled and helped me up. “Thanks, Mich.”
“What’s going on here?” She did one of those whispers again and I was thankful for having on a long sleeved shirt.
“This is Nes. She’s a really good friend of Amanda’s from New York. I never thought I’d see her on our front step though. Why don’t we all go inside?”
Amanda led the way into the living room and sat on the couch with Nes. Unfortunately, they took up the whole couch, causing Michelle and me a need to find seats. Before I had a chance to figure out where to sit, I was being pushed into a chair and sat on.
“You don’t mind do you, Amanda?” Amanda looked up at Michelle and shook her head.
“No, I don’t and thanks for asking.”
Michelle laughed quietly and shook her head leaning down to whisper into my ear. “I wonder how much we could do before she noticed it.”
“My hand could be down your pants and she wouldn’t notice with this girl. For all she cares we could be in the bedroom ripping our clothes off in a lustful frenzy.”
She blushed and cleared her throat slightly. “My god, you are a writer.” I laughed and Amanda looked up at us.
“What are you guys talking about?”
“Oh my god, she lives! She sees! Hi honey, welcome back to reality. We’ve all missed you so.” She was confused now and then noticed that she was practically raping her best friend with snuggles.
“Oh, sorry Nes…” Nes laughed and shook her head to tell her it was all right. Amanda smiled and nuzzled her friend again.
On a normal day this would have infuriated me, but for some reason I felt really good right now. I had the chance to have Michelle in my lap. And then the thoughts started to come.
“You know what, I’ll be right back guys. I uh… I just need to uh… I’ll just be right back.” I tickled Michelle’s sides so she’d let me up and then I walked into my bedroom.
Pacing back and forth, I found myself wanting to fix my problem. “No, Andy… this isn’t the time, nor the place to be doing that. And what if someone walked in? I know you’re horny! I don’t care!”
Michelle stood and walked into the room, she knew that Amanda and Nes wouldn’t miss her. In fact they probably wanted to be alone together anyway.
