Title: Normal Day
Rating: G
Summary: Kate and Claire talk about a normal day
Disclaimer: I don't own Lost.
Author's Note: Written for the purple, tulip, chocolate, pillow prompt for Lost Riffs at
lostsquee. The reason it's late is because I'm in Australia, so we're in a different timezone here. The reason only three of the four prompt words are mentioned is that I suck. This is my first drabble, and my muse is a little rusty on Lost right now, but I was determined to participate :)
"It's not fair," Claire whispered, her eyes bright and watery. The motion of the rescue boat had been so soothing a minute ago, but now it was nauseating. Nothing was still, nothing was calm. Nothing was right anymore. Kate leaned her head on Claire's shoulder.
"I don't know what you're talking about," she said quietly. She took one of Claire's hands in both of her own. "The next time I see you, you'll have purple glitter polish on your nails," she said, stroking Claire's fingers. "We'll be meeting at an outdoor cafe in Sydney, right on the water. There'll be a tulip in a glass vase on the table. We'll drink iced chocolate and spend the whole day talking. It'll be great, you'll see." She imagined the cafe and the seagulls, imagined taking pictures and being normal.
Claire stared intently at the ceiling. "Why are you lying to me?"
Kate closed her eyes and tried not to picture the jail cell.
"I don't know."
