Just a quick one to let my flist know I haven't died or anything. One of these days I'll sit in front of the computer and do a "skip 800" kind of deal and catch up on all the stuff I've missed, but ... egh. Time, and the lack of it, and whatnot.
So, a few things, in brief:
1. I've seen "New Moon" now, and after some re-reads of the books, and some browsing of the interwebs, I've come to revise my "what's the big?" opinion of the Twilight series stated below. I have so many very big problems with the entire series that I don't have the time or energy to rant about right now (though the rant, she is coming, ladies and gentlemen), but suffice to say there are many aspects of the story that make me highly uncomfortable, and I shudder to think what they do to the minds of impressionable teens who can't see this for the mind-numbingly-entertaining FICTION that it is.
2. I have friend issues. The issues are far too big and anger-inducing to go into now, but let's just say that one of my best friends (not the one I complained about this time last year, her and I have spent some quality time together and have rekindled our BFF status over some Southpark and Violet Crumble bars) is doing something highly innappropriate and morally questionable - and if I'm questioning it, you know it really is an issue, because I'm usually very non-judgemental about such things (which is why she confided in me in the first place, so I feel awful about complaining about it because I'm touched that she trusts me with something so huge, but it is really HUGE, and I'm sworn to secrecy, so I can't vent to anyone else, gah.). I still love her more than life itself, and I'm totally behind her no matter what, but what she's doing is making me angry, it's not fair on anyone involved, she's going to hurt a lot of people, and I honestly don't know if I'll be able to resist telling her she deserves it when it blows up in her face. GAH.
3. I was browsing Harry Potter fanart last night after renting (and *coughburningcough*) Half Blood Prince and deciding they really couldn't have cast a more delicious, sensual and evil Bellatrix than Helena Bonham Carter, when I came across some drawings by a young lady called odella over at InsaneJournal. I'll link to my favourite one here, but be warned, it's not work safe:
extremely hot picture of Bellatrix and Lupin. Well now. There that is. *grin* She's talented, yes?
4. TV is still my life. Watching the latest "Bones" later tonight, loved the series premiere, adore VNM and Gordon Gordon. Criminal Minds made me cry - poor Haley, she was so lovely (I know the shippers all hate her because she's not Emily, but I'm not a shipper, I love that particular canon relationship, and the actress who plays her [name escapes me right now] has been a favourite of mine since she played the adorable, hyper, messed up chick on Dawson's Creek). And poor Hotch. Nip/Tuck is still my favourite shock-value-crack show - every time I think it can't get more ridiculous, it does! It's quite impressive really. I loled so hard when Matt became a mime. Have to say though, I didn't miss Julia at all, they didn't really need to bring her back at all. Teddy was hot as a blonde. I'm over Kimber. Being that it's the last season, I hope Christian and Sean hook up in the finale. How I Met Your Mother is the most hilarious show since Scrubs (which I'm flailing in anticipation of season 9 of, btw), and I'm going to watch the new "Slapsgiving" episode tomorrow. Robin is my idol. I'm two episodes behind on NCIS right now (stupid real life), but I've revised my opinions on the characters since season 1 - I love them all now, even McGee, he's such a little cutie. I read a fantastic fanfic a few weeks back which I can't find the link to now which was so in character, yet so not at the same time, and just worked so brilliantly. I'm an entire season and a half behind on CSI, but I think given the absence of Billy Peterson, I"ll just let that one go. No offence to Lawrence Fishbourne or anything, I've heard he's wonderful in it, and I'm sure he is - I loved him in the Matrix, and I'm curious to see if he can fill BP's shoes, but it's not really CSI without Grissom, is it? I can live without Sara now that I'm used to her being gone, but Warrick's death still stings too much for me to be ready to lose Gil too! Lol, I'm so tragic. As for SVU, I've only seen a few season 8 and 9 eps on TV, and am plodding slowly through the DVDs, but it seems to be less of a continous storyline than other crime shows, I find this one okay to watch as a stand-alone, so I'm not in too much of a rush to get to season 10 and 11. I am over the Elliot-Kathy bit though - I like some canon marriages (see Hotch/Haley, above), but Kathy is just grating. I'm not one of those rabid Elliot/Oliva shippers, but I still can't wait for Elliot to kick that bitch to the curb (note: I'm still referring to Kathy here, not Olivia! Olivia is a goddess, as far as I'm concerned). I know there's an Elliot-Fin fight brewing too (I've read spoilers) which I'm not cool with - I like both, so I don't know who to side with! Woe. As for Medium - oh hell, who knows when I'll get around to catching up on that. I still love it, but I might just wait for the DVDS. And what of this season's new shows, I hear you ask? Well, I watched the first episode of "Glee" online, and thought it was stupid. Am tempted to download a few "True Bloods", because it sounds interesting, but I'm scared I'll like it, and does it really seem to anyone as though I have time for a new TV addiction? No. No it does not. Hell, Lost isn't even back on yet!
I'm off. Bolognaise calls.
