TV meme... beware!
In an attempt to get back into using LJ and remembering to post (we'll see if it lasts, especially since the niece and nephew are coming this weekend and I expect to be super exhausted 24/7), I thought I'd try to do the tv meme that's going around... plus, maybe it'll get me out of "grad school mindset" and into fannish mode.
Day 01 - A show that never should've been canceled
This is a hard one. I was inclined to write Arrested Development, but the 3 short seasons of that show are so perfectly done, it's hard to push for more... or maybe Firefly which wasn't super appealing to me after the first couple of episodes, but gained momentum as it progressed, leading me to love and embrace the majority of the characters, and I still wish there were more... but the big damn movie helped that out a lot.
So actually, I think my choice would be Everwood. I'm a huge fan of that show; the acting and writing were so solid, and all the characters felt so real to me, without devolving in quality in the way that Gilmore Girls did while writing the whole small town aspect. It was a great mix of drama and comedy, and definitely made me teary-eyed at times. I adored the Browns, and the Abbotts, and just everyone... even the characters that irritated me at times (hello, Amy Abbott), I still love. And the new ones they brought on in the later seasons, like Hannah, were amazing! I would've loved to see where it would've gone. They always went in directions I never expected, and somehow pulled it off. And even if it was a storyline I didn't like, it still helped the characters grow. They seemed to actually LEARN from their mistakes, which is a major feat in tv world...
I recently rewatched all the seasons of the show, but I still miss Everwood.
