Just watched the movie "Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang" and it was hilarious. Last week I saw "Brick" which was also pretty good, very original, but not as much fun. I really wanted to go see "The Black Dahlia" but my free passes aren't good for it yet (has 3 of my favorite actors: Scarlett Johansson, Aaron Eckhart, and Hilary Swank, plus it's a Brian DePalma film)...Ditto with All The King's Men, and in another couple of weeks with The Departed. I'm especially excited for "The Departed" because it's A) Scorcese and, B) a remake of a really good Chinese film (Infernal Affairs).
Other recently viewed movies that didn't suck: "V For Vendetta" (Hugo Weaving is a god and it's ballsy to make a terrorist your protaganist in this day and age); "The Girl In The Cafe" (love Kelly McDonald and Bill Nighy); "Tsotsi" (which is once again proof that America just doesn't make the great gritty dramas the rest of the world has gotten so good at); and "2046" (great Chinese movie, a loose sequel to "In The Mood For Love" with an incredible cast, beautiful cinematography and unbound imagination).
You know, just in case you were bored and trying to find something to watch.
