Returned from young adult rafting extravaganza with sunburn and not dead. Got sucked under the raft on one of the rapids and almost died. Well, I say "almost died..." The guide says it was like 5 seconds--not being able to breathe and seeing the water cover your head while it pulls at your feet and you've nothing to grab onto and no one tries to pull you out--let's just say it was terrifying. And added to that is a nasty sunburn--insult to injury as they say.
Really excellent camping and bonding trip, though, with the young adults. We did all the camping things--got bitten by bugs, complained about our lound neighbors, made s'mores, sang camp songs (including Peter Paul and Mary, the Beatles, and every Girl Scout round we could think of). Glorious. Except for the pesky almost dying, it was fantastic.
