02 - Hatter's Lost His Voice. (Action, if you like.)

Aug 24, 2010 16:13

He was furious. He really was, stomping around in circles outside of his house. Kicking up dirt, punching the wall, and strangely, clutching his hat. He was aware that the returning of his hat had something to do with the losing of his voice, but he hadn't been in town long enough to suspect the postman, of all people ( Read more... )

He rounds on her, motioning angrily toward the direction the post office was in, and spouting out words that were better off left silent. He made a frustrated gesture, then one as though he were choking someone, and then some sort of representation of the Chinese alphabet.

[April watches him as he does this, giving him a look that says "wtf?" But she understands what he's trying to say.] You went to the post office and got your hat back [Points to the hat he's clutching.] and they took your voice as the fee. Right?

He nods, mouth slightly open and eyebrows pulled back in sort of a devastated look. He didn't know they were going to take something from him, but... if he wanted to talk again, he'd have to give up his hat, which he stares at now in longing.

[She notices the look and her own expression turns sympathetic as she takes a few more steps closer to him. Hatter may possibly notice that she no longer uses her walking stick to help her walk anymore.] What do you want to do...?

He shrugged abysmally. He wasn't trying to be silly, it was just... well, his hat was the only thing of Wonderland he had, now that he was stuck in this godawful town.

His eyes were downcast as she approached, so he did indeed notice the lack of a third leg, so to speak. His eyebrows furrow in confusion, and he looks up at her, motioning to her legs with his head.

[April didn't say anything, although she thinks it would be best to trade the hat back in, but it's his choice. When he motions to her legs, she blinks in confusion before giving him a sheepish smile.] Ah, my friend at the hospital got me a leg brace, so I don't need to use a walking stick anymore. [Pulls her skirt up a tiny bit so that he could see a part of the metal brace on her left leg.]

He grins widely and announces, 'good on you, mate!' Of course, it was silent, but the sentiment was still there. He then huffs out a sigh and stares at the ground a moment, absently flipping his hat in his hands.

[She gives him a grin at this although it drops when he sighs.] Your hat must mean a lot to you...

He nods softly. He'd had it for as long as he could remember, the world changed, but he always had his hat. Which... is why they called him Hatter.

...Maybe you might be able to trade something else in return for your voice...

He rolls his eyes and motions to the house questioningly. He doesn't own anything here, other than his hat.

I mean...[How does she say this...] They've taken different things from people; limbs, organs and even memories. If you want to have both your voice and hat, you'll have to give up something else... [She feels bad for saying that and her expression shows this.]

He pauses and looks down, wondering what else he could give up. He didn't want to lose an arm or a leg, and he didn't trust them to much about in his mind... though the memory thing did sound appealing. He sure wouldn't mind to lose some of the things he'd gone through in the resistance...

[April will just kinda...stand there and fidget. She was never that good at these sort of situations...or most social situations in general.]

He cracks half a smile at her fidgeting, and pats the ground beside him, indicating for her to sit.
