God, its been a busy week.
First off, the cultural center.
This was awesome. It's this big center divided off into the seven Islands of Tonga, Tahiti, Marquesas, Hawai'i, Figi, Aotearoa (New Zealand), and Samoa. You can walk to the different islands, take a canoe ride, or go around with a tour guide. Each Island has a feature presentation on their island and cultures, ending with a dance. Here are some of the islands.
Samoa was first. This guy was amazing...
his calf muscles are bigger than his arms!!!!
This guy climbed a tree in three seconds.
Then was Hawai'i
yes...that is a nose flute.
after a presentation on all the musical instruments of Hawai'i, a hula girl came out and danced for us using all the different instruments.
Then the dancing in Tahiti...
The islands of Marquesas.
The water parade. All the different islands came out in a parade and did dances on big canoes.
Later on in the evening there was a mini-luau. Complete with Kailua pig and hula dancers.
Kailua Pig in the ground.
After the mini-luau, the day ended with a big show in an outdoor theatre. Samoan fire dancers was the highlight.
