If fish Had feet, they would walk really fast!

Did you ever read those Choose your adventure books when you were a kid? You know, the ones where you could choose what happens in the story. Well, I used to read those all the time. There were so many different stories in just 50 pages. I loved that if you didn't like what happened, you could always go back and choose a different route. Thats what I feel like my life is like right now. I have so many adventures to choose from out here, except in my story, I haven't gone back yet because everything that I do just seems to turn out great. I am having the time of my life out here.

I told you I was blonder!!!

People from my Aunts work were throwing a going away party for some people. We rented two boats and a Pontoon and drove out to a sandbar in the middle of the ocean. It was so cool. There is just this giant area of sand that sticks out for a couple of hours and then disappears as the tide comes in. It was only out for about a half an hour by the time that we got there. We had to park the boat about 50 feet away because the area is so shallow. So once we got there, we just jumped out of the boat and walked to the bar. It was really wierd to be in the middle of the ocean with the water only coming up to my knees. There were different Islands that you could WALK to because the water was so shallow.

People walkin to the sandbar.

Getting some sun from the boat. (I should know better than to take pictures after I've been in the water all day)

This is a picture of the island that they used for the beginning of gilligans island.

I saw my first jellyfish there too. It was really cool looking. It was on the sandbar and it was a little baby one that was trying to dig in the sand. We threw it back in the water with my little cousins bucket. Then the rest of the day I was totally paranoid being in the water because in my mind- if there is one baby jellyfish, theres gotta be hundreds more just waiting to sting me.

I haven't seen one since.

About three weeks ago, I was driving home from the beach when I rear-ended this ladies crappy old car. I immediately said some cuss words, then stepped out of my car to asess the damage. Her car had a little dent in it, and my car had a scratch, and was missing the front license plate (which I didn't notice until the next day). Well, we pulled over and exchanged info, and she called the cops to report it. I was freaking out becuase I can't afford a freaking ticket, and I didn't want to screw up my aunts insurance since it was her car that I was driving. Well, after a while, when the police didn't show up, I asked her when they said they'd be here. She didn't know. She then went into her glove box and pulled out a piece of paper and handed it to me. It was a coupon for a free starbucks coffee. She handed it to me and then said that she wanted me to have it so that the wait didn't seem as long and then appologized to me. I couldn't accept it since I did ram my car into hers and all, but I couldn't believe the gesture. People our here have a completely different attitude than on the mainland. She was so nice to me. And the cop never gave me a ticket. I think I'm the luckiest person on earth...even when I bring bad luck on myself, something good seems to happen.

I started taking Scuba lessons last week. It was so much fun. Its a strange strange feeling to be breathing underwater. After all the classes, we had to go on four different open water dives in order to get certified.

Our first dive was at a place on the North Shore called "Sharks Cove." I was freaked out for days. I kept imagining myself being eaten by a great white.

Well, it ended up being just a name. There were no sharks, but there were lots of other stuff. There were some eels- which by the way are soooo cool looking. The whole time we were taking classes, they stressed about a million times how we aren't supposed to touch things and we are supposed to stay off the bottom and not disturb any ocean life. That idea went out the window the first time that we saw an eel sticking its head out of the rocks and my instructor starts poking the rocks around it to try to get it to come out.
The first dive we took we saw a sea turtle swimming around. It was probably like 15 feet from us. But on the second dive, a sea turtle was chillin on the surface of the water, and then came down inbetween my diving buddy and me. It was like two feet away from us. It was amazing.

On Sunday we did two boat dives. It was incredible. The water was so clear and there were so many fish. They weren't scared at all and swam right up to my mask. There were hundreds and hundreds of fish swimming around. It was like being in a giant aquarium. It is a completely different world being underwater.

The only scary thing that happened was when my buddy didn't realize how close he was to me and knocked my regulator out of my mouth. We practiced what to do in class like a thousand times, but let me tell you...its coompletely different when you aren't expecting it. I started to freak out and it took everything in my power not to inhale when I was surprised. I just stopped everything and was still for like three seconds, then found my regulator and put it back in my mouth and could breathe again. My heart was racing for forever and I was a little freaked out, but everything was ok.

On the boat on the way to our second dive on Sunday, our boat was surrounded by about thirty dolphins. They were playing in the bubbles and waves that our boat was making. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. There were so many of them. It was unbelievable. I think its my favorite memory since being out here. It was like a scene from a movie. The boat slowed down, and we just got to watch them play. I tried to get pictures of them when they would jump out of the water, but these pics were the best that I could get.

My scuba class.

Hawaii makes me happy!!
