The Lands Lesson
The field is barren,
dark with fatality,
blackened with pain.
Once there was sound,
words and expression that rippled
across the field
upon the lofty grain.
But now silence is
what was left behind.
I hear the whispers
of that resonance now gone.
Silence holding a stiff hand
with the pain and scars that reside,
scars and pain only left by
the slashing of earth and
the wicked lash of a biting fire.
The land aches with pain
And I stand knowing…
Knowing that no matter what,
Pain and death follow everywhere.
