What to do when you don't know what to do? Go to two restaurants, a grocery store, and get in on the inside happenings of the loiterer population of your suburb. I feel so cool now (lol.). It's amazing how many people are out loitering on a Friday night. While driving around with Erica, Alla, and Cherine tonight, we saw quite a lot. Favorite spots really do seem to be at the elementary schools (but strangely not so much at the junior high). Ironic, is it? We drove to Tripp school and found ourselves a classic bunch of loiterers. We encircled the lot a couple times, and then went back down the street. Having not much else to do, we bravely returned a few minutes later (am I right on this?) and circled around a few more times. Erica used her brightest flash to take a picture of them on her digital camera. Then, as I'm starting to drive forward, some of the people in a white pickup truck start to back up. I turned on a diagonal toward the parking lot exit to avoid them, and they continued to back up at an increasing rate..I drove quickly out of the lot and they kept reversing towards us. If I hadn't driven fast out of there, it seemed like they were really prepared to hit us. They even rounded the corner out of the lot backwards. It was quite the adrenaline rush. Then we went to fill up my car with gas (almost $40 this time, and I have a small car..if only the raising prices would get us all to drive less; no such luck it seems, myself included), and we stumbled upon a girl pushing another girl down the sidewalk in a grocery cart. Erica tried to get a picture, but missed. Some guy at the diagonal pump was staring at us, and upon driving back over to Erica's street (I drove aimlessly in that area for a little while), we found the same guy hanging out on the side of the street! Eepness, there are things about at night. For lack of inspired things to do and an inability to find a "block party"/fair thing, it turned out pretty interesting.
Upon checking my email, I find that Our Lady Peace is playing at the Vic in October! Yay, I definitely want to go. A band I like, at a venue I like (it's where I saw Dido), for only $19 (plus service fee crap I'm sure, but that's really good for a regular concert price)..sounds good to me. Tickets actually go on sale today..maybe I'll just get it right away so I don't find myself taking overly long to decide and miss out. Anyone want to go with?
I love Kate Winslet. I just saw another movie with her the other day (Iris), which also got me thinking about Heavenly Creatures again (which I saw a little while back). She has these great characters she plays who are unique and really seem to live in their own energetic, seizing-the-moment type way, to try to generalize the feeling I get from them. She's going to be in a new movie soon (I don't know when it's coming out), a musical from what I read! I like the American Express commercial she's in now too. It's simple and neat (not clean neat, but cool neat).
Oh, and I think Antagonizing Loiterers should be a band name. Or at least a poem or song or something.
