Or a mode of transportation, anyway. I bought the '93 Ford Tempo I looked at today. I got it for $1,000. I figured I wasn't going to find a better deal elsewhere, especially from someone I could trust because they're friends with my grandma with as low mileage as the car has and what sounds like good maintenance and mechanical condition. It's a small white car with rust on the bottoms of the front side doors, but other than those couple cosmetic flaws should be in good shape. Now I have to wait a few days to drive it more (I drove it around their block before buying and then home afterwards) to get the plates, registration, insurance and all that. I'm trying to decide if I want to get the environmental plates for $40 more (plus higher renewal cost per year). Some of it goes toward helping Illinois Parks. I'd like to know how much of it does. Also, it looks like personalizing the plate with letters and numbers is only $7 more than that if I got the environmental plate. But I don't even know if I have something really worth personalizing it with. It's so weird to think I have my own car now. Hasn't quite hit me..I'm feeling all nonchalant about it. It's technically in my parents' names, but they only did that in case that somehow helps us get cheaper insurance rates, so it is actually mine.
