Winter Carnival 2006 (My Sober Adventure)

Feb 09, 2006 19:55

Where the hell should I start? I’ve done so much in the last 24 hours. Before my night had officially started I went to my usual classes and got some good news. I got a 95% on my last Computer Science program and I got a 91% on my last Linear Algebra Exam!! I got 2% higher of a grade then the Asian that sits next to me in Linear Algebra. Yes I said that correctly, I outscored an ASIAN!

Being that my day had been going great so far I decided to set my load of homework aside for the beginning of my awesome Winter Carnival. I grabbed $40 from the nearest ATM and went back to my room in order to prepare.

By prepare what I really meant was to sit on my ass and wait for the fun to start. At almost 24 hours ago my night had began at 8:00 pm and Josh and Brandon met me up on my floor to grab some people to head out.

The crew that I was rollin’ with for the moment was Josh, Brandon, Tony, and Matt. We first went to Campus Café to scope out any deals that they were running for Carnival and they didn’t have any. What a waste of time. Next we checked out our statue and then proceeded to venture outside the area and toward the food stands. I’d been waiting for an entire fucking year to try a few things that I had missed out on last year.

There were fried Twinkies and Snickers bars. The Pep Band was selling them for $2 a pop or 2 for $3. We were some of the first people to get in line. Thank Jesus too. That line never stopped getting bigger after we left. The Pep Band ran out of materials and had to shut down the stands a bit early. I’m glad that I got to try the tasty treats. I’d have to say that I like the fried Twinky a little bit more then the Snickers.

The group moved on to have a look at the rest of the statues in pursuit of watching some crazy drunks, but as to my expectations it was a little bit early in the night for the drunks to be showing their stupid faces. We headed over to the HUGE speaker stage that the Audio Engineers set up with a snow encasing and jammed for a little while. It’s more of a sound wall. We grabbed some free cotton candy and then Matt had to split off away from the group because he had plans to go get drunk with some other friends. The rest of the group went down back to our statue to see the progress that they had made and to grab some free chili and pop. Freakin’ sweet!

We all ended up heading back up to the dorms at around 10 to warm up for a while. That’s when we split up.

I ended up going up to the Student Development Center to watch Brian and Brett’s hockey practice with Ian. They made plans to get wasted and that is exactly what ended up happening. Brian was drinking the entire time he was at hockey practice. It made it so funny when he’d come over to take a few swigs and then get knocked on his ass by one of his teammates. Ian and I went back to our room around 11:30 to prepare for our long night. We waited for Brian and Brett to get back and then after they filled their flasks with some Black Licorice flavored alcohol and I filled mine with water we left to hit up campus again.

I ended up being the chaperone for Brian and Ian the whole night. Before long they were both wasted. The thing that sucked was that Brian was really slow when he was drunk and Ian was really fast. This is what I sounded like, “Brian GO! Ian STOP!” I had a lot of help with the guys from Gretchen. She was drinking too, but only enough to get her tipsy.

When we made it to the sound stage there were TONS of people gathered around bumping and grinding with one another. It was insane. It was also really gross. Most of them were wasted and more then 2/3 of them were guys.

After that we went into the Memorial Union Building to warm up and listen to a local band in the Battle Of The Bands Competition. They were all right. I noticed that they had the Wings game on and we were whopping some ass! 4 - 0 in the third period.

We had to escape from the M.U.B. rather quickly because there were cops inside and I didn’t want them to catch Brian and Ian drunk in public. After our encounter at the M.U.B. we went down to look at the statues at the frats. They were pretty crappy. It wasn’t worth going that far if you’d ask me, but my two drunken acquaintances that I had with me refused to turn around. They wanted to go all the way to the next town over to look at a Batman statue that was there, but convinced them otherwise. We ended up stopping at a hotdog stand for Ian and Brian to grab something to eat.

Like 2 seconds after we left the stand we were told by the stand across the street that their hotdogs were cheaper and that we just got ripped off. I thought it was pretty funny being that I didn’t order anything. On our way back Brian wanted another hotdog so we stopped at the “cheaper” hotdog stand and then some cops pulled up to both of the stands.

I didn’t panic though. I grabbed Brian and told him to put his money back in his pocket and then we walked away from the stand like nothing happened. It turned out that the stands were operating illegally.

The mile hike back to the dorms was NOT something that I was looking forward to, especially being that I had to drag my two wasted friends along with me. We eventually made it back though.

Brian passed out in our room while Gretchen was making pizza rolls and Ian hopped into bed. We watched some crappy Anime on TV while we sat and chatted about what had happened throughout the night. Brian woke up from his slumber and said I’m going to throw up so Gretchen took him to the ladies room and basically took care of him until he passed out again. It was cute.

Throughout that night I witnessed Brian slapping hands with everyone he saw and hugging random people. He sometimes screamed out random verbal diarrhea in the public’s direction, which I had to apologize for. He passed out on one of the statues for 3 minutes once and I had to pick him up to get him to start moving again. Ian wasn’t that poorly behaved except for the occasional verbal diarrhea and his speedy attitude about being ahead of everyone else while he was drunk. My hardest task was to keep them both out and away from traffic and away from the ice so that they didn’t fall and break open their heads.

If I had to do it again… I would. Oh and yeah… bed at 4 am, wake at 10 am. I went to take pictures of the snow statues when I woke up and I have about 160 - 170 of them. I’ll post them at a later date after I have shrank them all down and added them to a website for your viewing pleasure.

Until next time kids,

Jackson… out!
