Thank you for the lovely words! I'm on a sad kick with the Mass Effect universe for some strange reason...I am glad you enjoyed this.

This was really good. Heartbreaking in a way when you think of all those who have died and remember the conversation Shepard and Liara had early in game about Liara's fear of living long enough to see the end of the cycle. Reading anything where she has is hard to stomach because you inevitably reach that point where Shepard and most of the rest of the galaxy is dead. That would be incredibly lonely and I can't imagine how horrible it would feel for Liara to be in the exact position she didn't want to be in.

I am curious if the "unbent, unbowed, unbroken" was borrowed from A Song of Ice and Fire b/c if it is that would be an awesome reference. Either way the whole thing was awesome even though it was incredibly sad. Great job.

Thank you for the always wonderful comments :)

Out of everyone, I think Liara's survival would be the most heartbreaking because in way she was the one that least wanted to see the end of the Reaper War and the destruction if the Crucible failed. I honestly think that Liara would experience a sense of incredible loss in any scenario...she would outlive all of her friends even if they beat the Reapers. She's in a lose/lose situation however she looks at it. Her long life draws attention to the mortality of the rest of crew. It's morbidly beautiful.

And, I'm going to be completely honest, the "unbent, unbowed, unbroken" line I saw and tumblr somewhere and it just fit so I included it (so, it most likely is a quote from the book). I have never read A Song of Ice and Fire...though they are on my list of books to read. I hear they are amazing.

You're welcome.

I agree with you that Liara's survival would be the most heartbreaking. Living for that long does come with a down side when everyone you love and consider friends and family lives a shorter life span than you, I'd much prefer for her and Shepard to go at the same time if they aren't going to defeat the Reaper's. Liara's long life span is why I'm so attached to the destroy ending and the idea of Shepard and Liara having those little blue children because at least once Shepard is gone Liara would still have someone left to love and care for who isn't likely to die before she does.u

If you found it on tumblr it likely is a quote from the books since it is a paraphrase of one of the house motto's. The A Song of Ice and Fire books are awesome and has some of the best characters out there.
