Interesting…footnote for John the Baptist’ declaration of, “I baptize with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit” is found in Joel 2:28 in which it reads, “Then after I have poured out my rains again, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions.” The other footnotes of the baptism of the Holy Spirit are found at Pentecost, later when the Jews discovered that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on Gentiles too, and a chapter later when Luke was reflecting on John’s declaration which if we backtrack we see its context in Joel once again.
