thread with Seira Almasy for applicationwaterfellJanuary 1 2012, 04:14:47 UTC
[There's a waterfall. The trees thin to reveal a clearing with a stream running through it, fed by a source higher up along the falls. The ground is grassy, but rocks dot the landscape.
She's not alone there. Mercury's head turns as soon as she senses, and hears, Seira. Her lips quirk upward.]
[Seira's comfortable in the woods, far more unguarded than she's felt in weeks. She smirks as Mercury speaks though, raising an eyebrow in something close to amusement.]
Do you regularly tell your guests to jump off cliffs?
[It's said mildly enough, though there's a defensive edge to it.]
You know, if you're trying to be proper about it it's the hosts job to introduce themselves first but considering you're the ruler of a forest I suppose etiquette is a bit different here; it's Almasy.
[Borrowed might be more appropriate; but she much prefer owns, and doesn't bother with corrections.]
Mercury. [Her name is given in return, without a full introduction in these somewhat odd circumstances.] Pleased to meet you. [The formality is automatic, but comes with a hint of facetiousness these days.]
[Seira's alright with not being given a full introduction, she didn't give one either.]
Last I checked that was silver and not blue but whatever floats your boat. Silver hair looks ridiculous on people who aren't a million years old anyway.
I wasn't named for the element Mercury. [In a rather odd way, it was named for her.]
I was called Mercury like that planet. [Where she was first born, and where she received her powers from back then, but she doesn't add that to an already-incredulous stranger.]
[Color was important, it held meanings especially when used in coordination with others or in symbols.]
See, you don't look like any sorta soldier I've ever met, or a ruler of anything. You look way more like someone playing fairy princess or like you're from some goofy saturday morning cartoon I'd've watched when I was six.
[The soldier of water and princess of the planet Mercury makes a careless gesture. People can think what they want, in terms of that; she's fine with disproving it by her accomplishments. And she knows her accomplishments, very well.]
It's lightweight. And it has certain properties to make it stronger than armor.
Being a fool with your assumptions won't help you live very long.
You're also flashing everyone if you have to dodge or kick someone. Skirts look good if you're standing around being dignified but they get in the way and wrecked if you have to do any actual fighting.
[She considered herself something of an expert on combat appropriate clothing that didn't look ridiculous on a young woman.]

Feel like wading in?

Sorry, I didn't bring my bathing suit.

The water at the base of the falls is deep. If you jumped, if you dive properly, you wouldn't be hurt.

She does give the top of the falls an appraising look, it doesn't look like the easiest climb but definitely doable. If she'd had the idea first...]

Speak a bit more respectfully.

I'm not gonna kiss your ass because you say I should, if I did that for everyone I'd go through more lipstick a day than I could carry.

I'll let it pass, but don't speak that way to me in my land again.
Who are you, anyway?

[It needs pointing out as far as Seira sees.]

And if it isn't?
[She knows, of course, where it comes from, though.] The blue is probably because, I'm the Soldier of Water.
