thread with Jack Skellington for applicationauncyenhaligDecember 8 2011, 05:02:08 UTC
[ A simple flower girl has simple dreams.
Though Aerith's not really all that simple, and this dream is certainly on the silly side. Think of a walk-in closet the size of a small house; filled with clothes and costumes aplenty, and mirrors around to check appearances, it's hard to imagine not walking out with the perfect outfit.
Aerith is closer to the back, straightening things and humming cheerfully. ]
[ Even when it came to dreams, Jack was unable to resist the temptation that encouraged his curiosity. And while it might be just a little strange to see a rather tall skeleton rummaging through a trunk filled with hats there was no denying that he was entertained.
The sight of so many costumes reminded him of the Santa Claus suit Sally had made for him. Why, even the first hat he plucked from the trunk had been the very same red and white cap he had worn one year ago. As he looked into the mirror the corners of his mouth turned upwards into a grin. But mere seconds after he had put the hat on he whisked it off in favor of silk top hat that fit his skull perfectly.
And no sooner had he done that it was immediately replaced by a hat sporting an umbrella on top. --He was a dead man of multiple tastes. ]
[ It was a little strange, and when Aerith first saw him there she gave a soft gasp, backing up around the corner again.
...Only to laugh when she saw him putting on that red and white cap. My, but these dreams were showing her strange people. No one seemed all that bad, though, and she walked out of her impromptu hiding spot, watching the hat changes. ] Even you need shade from the sun, hm?
[ When Jack turned to see her had already exchanged the umbrella hat for one that of a jester's, bells and all. He was smiling brightly as he plucked the jingling cap from his skull. ] Unfortunately, too much sun has never been very good for my bones!
[ The smile remained as the Pumpkin King bowed to the young woman, his left arm sweeping across his front, the jester hat grasped tightly in his boney hand. ]
I hope I am not intruding-- I couldn't help coming in, there's just so much to see here!
There most certainly is; Although it's really only the vampires that have a disliking of the sun.
[ Standing up straight once more he dropped the hat back into the trunk. ] A horrendous pleasure to meet you, Miss Aerith. [ He placed a hand to his chest with a grin. ] My name is Jack Skellington.
[ "Horrendous"? Aerith blinks at that before smothering a quiet giggle. ] The "terror"'s all mine. Woooow, you're so tall! Hmm... I wonder what would fit. [ She runs off to one side, already looking through things. ]
Vampires and skeletons... it must be a really interesting place you come from.
[ Jack blinked --yes, those empty eye sockets blinked-- in mild surprise. ] Oh, you don't need to go through the trouble of finding me a--
[ But before he could finish the skeleton let his arm fall back to his side when he had reached out to stop her, a sigh escaping him. He chuckled softly to himself before turning back to the collection of hats and resuming his hunt. ]
But yes, it most certainly is! All types of creatures and spirits live where I am from. [ Amusing himself with a crown he found, he set it upon his head and looked into the mirror again. ] It's dark and mysterious with haunted buildings and graveyards. Creeping shadows, monsters under beds and stairs, fearsome clowns and howling werewolves-- no place better suited to be called home than the town of Halloween!
[ He spoke fondly of the place as he switched the crown for a fez. ]
And there are witches of course, scientists too. My dearest friends are a lovely rag doll and a ghost dog too.
[ The curiosity of eye sockets blinking registers, but it's not until she's already rummaging through--ooh, a uniform!--that she puts together what's so off about it.
...Well, it seems pretty rude to ask how people's bodies work, so she keeps mum on that, calling back a distracted: ] No trouble!
[ Creeping shadows, monsters under beds...wow. ] It sounds like the right place for someone as scary-looking as you. [ She smiles as she says it--she thinks from the way he talks that "scary" is a good thing for him, but just in case a smile should make that clear. ] Do ghost dogs still play fetch?
[ -- oh hopefully Jack doesn't mind Aerith reaching up to move that tassel a bit. She hums thoughtfully at his appearance. ]
[ He doesn't mind in the slightest! The fez will stay for now until he finds something even more amusing to wear instead. ] Why thank you!
[ It was like experiencing another Halloween, being able to dress up in strange hats and outfits. He fondly remembered the scarecrow costume he wore last year. ]
Zero is always wanting to play fetch. He usually prefers it when I use one of my bones, particularly one of my ribs.
Not at all! [ And to prove his point Jack brought a hand to either side of his skull and promptly plucked it from his neck. With a laugh he held it out to her, the fez sliding just an inch to the right while in motion. ] It's dead useful when it comes to playing games or quoting Shakespeare!
[ Oh, whoops. Halloween has already come and gone-- this was not a time for scaring, was it? ]
My apologies, Miss Aerith! [ He said with a sheepish grin before the skeleton reatatched his skull to his body. He held up his hands and chuckled. ] As flattered as I am that I terrified you, that wasn't my intention.

[ She's smiling though it's obvious she's very curious as she looks him over. She's seen undead before--but they were always enemies... ]
Oh no, no. You're fine. But, now that you're here... We have to get you dressed! I'm Aerith, Mr. Skeleton. [ And since he bowed, she'll curtsy. ]

[ Sorry, Jack. That one might have been a little too much for her. She flings out her hands and quickly backs up. ]
