[Ichabod sighed. It was already said and he knew that getting it out in the open was the only way to clear his mind of the issue. He motioned for Zidane to follow him into the sitting room.]
I think I tell you what has happened before you arrived.
[He nods. With Ryohei gone, this was his only chance he had left to explain what happened without creating confusion to the remaining members of the house.]
Lucrecia and I....we fell...I fell in love with her so deeply that I was willing to do anything for her. I made her a lab so she could be occupied. I became a doctor so she and I could practice medicine together though her practices were far different than mine.
It was as if a pin was dropped and her entire mentality changed toward me. She became cold and distant. Without warning, she ripped my heart from me and disregarded everything that I was trying to accomplish. I thought...it was me at first.
Then the more I thought on what happened, I began to realize that she was damaged. I asked her to marry me....nothing came of it.
[He pulled the ring from under his collar that was attached to the chain and slid it off his neck.]
[He placed his hands in his lap and leaned back in his chair. His eyes cast up at the ceiling.]
I thank you for the sympathy though I am far from done in. I had opened myself up and thus I will not fall victim to that mistake again. Not here. This town is too unpredictable and cruel to be kind to anyone that shows sympathy or love.

Too many times I have opened up and the door was shut upon my face to lock me out of the gates and into the throes of regret.

My apologies to you for my lack of interaction. I needed to collect evidence and work on a plan. I have gotten no less closer than before.

Yet I will not give up despite this town ripping the very veins of life from this body.

[His expression softened somewhat but there was still that element of worry that graced his brow.]
I am not particularly keen in meeting anyone new should they prove to break my heart again. I cannot bear the pain a third time.
[He looked away and picked up the folder, slipping it under his arm as he gulps. He realized he said too much.]
