Consider me your patient exclusively, doctor.

Ah, yes I shall. I seem to know well enough when you need attention whilst keeping discretion in check, Major General. How are you fairing?

I'm well. On the suggestion of a few people, I took a few days off.

A wise decision. I have hired a new doctor to my staff by the name of Soranik Natu and she is a neurosurgeon. I have also hired a female courier, a nurse and eventually a receptionist to take appointments.

For now, my plans of retaliation against Grady has been put on hold. The townspeople are more important than my quest at this time. It...gives me pause to think that I would have acted rashly were it not for my sons intervening.

[Watch her tune out all the rest of that.]

On hold?

For now, yes. I am too driven on a personal level to think clearly on the matter. He will be dealt with but now is too soon. He will be expecting it and that is the most dangerous time to act.

I'm afraid you're going to completely disapprove of my next statement then.

[He narrows his eyes and stands up straight, steeling his resolve in case her words cut deep. He has a feeling that she's really not the patient type to look for an opening or window when he was just starting to get things together. After all, bad luck traveled in threes. First there was the falling out with him and Lucrecia, then the fire at the pharmacy. The third was Lucrecia's droning which really put him in a terrible state. He was preparing himself and his defense ahead of time.

So many variables and all of them stemmed from one point....getting out of this town.]

I am willing to listen.

I'm going to try to communicate with the Smith children.

I see.

[He pauses for a moment and thinks on this matter a little more.]

I was thinking of talking with Jane myself now that the fires have stopped and it would be wise if I made a house call to her to see if she is well.

[She'll test his resolve.]

Wisely, I won't be approaching them in a hostile manner. I merely want to judge their character.

You have been a fair judge of character, I must admit. Perhaps speaking to the children will allow us to understand their ordeal here in this town. Their behavior should be a strong indicator should there be any repressed emotions. It could show in their play. I shall do the same with Jane.

Pressing too soon too quickly could unravel and lead us to another issue and a repeat of what happened in the pharmacy.

What do you intend to ask of them?

For the sake of safety, I'm keeping that to myself.

You'll all know when I am finished.

[He pauses for a moment.]

I understand. Best of luck to you, Major General.

Thank you, Mr. Crane.

You'll be my first visit, should anything happen.

I hope in your case that nothing will.

[He sounded very concerned but he also knows deep down that she's more than capable of handling herself.]
