Once upon a time there was a witch.

"Isn't my plan the best?~"

The envious witch Alexis.

"It was a gamble since it took all this time for me to gain back all of my strength..."

Her powers?

"But it was worth it!"

Shikigamis.

"And now Spirit is mine~ Thank you, Maka, for the final blow ♥~"

Kami.

It was during a mission outside of Nevada that Alexis first saw Spirit-- and from that moment, she knew she wanted him for her own.

Oh, the witch tried everything she could to make Spirit hers: seduction, lies, magic, and bribes. Yet no matter how much she tries, every single time all of her efforts were destroyed by two people.

Franken Stein, meister. Lord Death, shinigami.

Envy and desire fueling her motive, Alexis broke the cardinal rule: Never mess with the Storyteller's Threads of Fate.

Storyteller wasn't a witch, neither was she a human nor a shinigami. Like her name, she created stories.

Lord Death calls them Life.

In a large chamber, unguarded, were colorful threads representing every individual's-- every single breathing creature-- lifespan. Alexis snuck in one night and searched for Spirit's thread, altering his life in that single moment.

Stein wasn't very keen on becoming the greatest meister around. He already has the abilities of one, after all. Science was-- is-- his love, and it will always be his one true romance. However, he made a promise: Help Spirit become a Death Scythe.

Spirit, despite his whines concerning his young meister, did-- does-- like him. However, he made a promise: Become Lord Death's one and only death scythe. Why? Well, why not?

One day, Spirit, with Stein's permission, switched meisters. In the months following, he obtained the title of Lord Death's personal Death Scythe.

Yet nobody, not even Lord Death, ever asked the most important question of all:

"Who's Kami?"

..._________________________ NOTES: time-wise __________________________ ...

Before Alexis influenced the thread, Spirit knew of Stein's actions on his body.
He never commented on his knowledge, waiting for the day that he knew when Stein would tell him the truth.
After the change, Spirit forgot about this fact.

Alexis never counted on the change to drain her of most of her energy, including her reserves.
This resulted in her hiding until she was back to full strength, just a few years after the "divorce".
Fortunately, her shikigamis are like Medusa's snakes:
They don't require energy to use and control.

Spirit became a Death Scythe with Kami at his side.

Maka is not Spirit and Kami Albarn's biological daughter.
She is an orphan due to Alexis, used as a way to keep Spirit together with shiki-Kami.
Three months after consummating their marriage, shiki-Kami was volatile and sent Spirit to stay with Lord Death until "their baby" was born, staying outside of Nevada to hide the lack of a growing soul inside her body.

Spirit's flirtatious behaviour is due to the loneliness caused by Alexis' meddling.

Though it doesn't require her energy to use her shikigami, Alexis, seeing how much Spirit loves Maka, used her shiki-Kami to influence the child to support her "poor hurting mama's side".
Once the divorce was finalized, Alexis knew she didn't have to worry about Spirit because of "their daughter".

Because of Stein coming back into Spirit's life, Alexis had to wait for the right moment before taking the weapon.
This was found in the form of Maka, in a bout of wrongfully aimed anger, screaming, "I hate you, Spirit!".
Alexis came for him in his moment of depression.

... __________________________ why didn't storyteller return everything to the way it was before alexis touched the thread? __________________________ ...

Why, because she creates the threads~!
