My Yuletide Letter

First off, thank you!

In general, if you're comfortable writing smut, please do! But I'd be happy with PG-13/G-rated pieces too, porn isn't a requisite. I'm okay with AU's (with an exception for The Hour because without the homophobic historical context the essence of the pairing changes), and my only real squicks are bestiality, scat, and parental incest. I like complex characters and internal conflict, happy old-married-couple bickering and first-love passion, snarkery and intelligence and women challenging people's expectations of them. And that's far from a comprehensive list.
If you want to know more, you can find my previous yuletide letter here and I have a tumblr which is a fair representation of the inside of my mind.

Regeneration
Priorrrr. Favourite character of all time. Most complex I've seen too - both unapologetically bisexual and deeply disturbed by his sadism,  a working-class communist who made it to officer, who cares deeply for his girlfriend but doesn't think twice about casually shagging other people... And I just want to see more of him.

15th Century Historical RPF
I'm a bit of a history nerd (and a big fan of Shakespeare's Richard III), and one of the things that slightly disappointed me in fictional versions (like The Sunne in Splendour or -shudders- The White Queen) is that Anne is generally depicted as quite meek and a victim of circumstance. I'd really like to see her as Richard's equal, someone with political savvy (she's the Kingmaker's daughter after all), and influence and intelligence. Not a Lady Macbeth kind of thing, rather a power couple where they both love and respect each other - and also scheme together.

Discworld
Unseen Academicals isn't one of my all-time favourites, but I adored the gender-defying mess that is Pepe-Madame Sharn-Bengo Macarona. The most obvious one is where Bengo is a gay man who thinks Madame Sharn is male, and Pepe and Madame Sharn are straight. But there are so many ways to interpret this otherwise. Apart from that, the street-scrapper who camps it up and the ruthless business-dwarf are a couple made in heaven to me, especially considering they seem to be in an open relationship. So anything with them would be great: how did they meet? Do they share partners? Please make them a loving couple, and don't go take the jealousy-and-anger route. I want them happy, if very non-conforming.

The Hour
The tragic gay couple. I loved how you could see Adam come apart at the seams (I'm a big Andrew Scott fan) and how cool and collected Angus was - or tried to be, at least. It's very frustrating we never got to see anything but glimpses of their relationship (like when Adam wanders into the hunting lodge and Angus lights his cigarette, keeping eye-contact all the while. loved that little moment). This is a painful depressing ship, unfortunately, and I'd like to see the combination of an essentially loving relationship twisted and turned sour by their environment, the pressure.

St Trinian's
My guilty pleasure, if there's such a thing. A school for misfits where the girls are trained to be as dangerous as possible, hard-femme feminists who take no shit from anyone. I'd really like to see what happens after they graduate, and I ship Annabelle/Kelly, so... What happens to them? Does Annabelle join MI-7 as well? Do they have exciting sexy spy adventures?

dear yuletide author letter, yuletide
