Charity post. First of many?

After her masters in theology at Cambridge, Zana Briski made her second trip to India. This time her destination was the "red light" district of Calcutta. The most stigmatized people in Calcutta's red light district, are not the prostitutes, but their children. In the face of abject poverty, abuse, and despair, these kids have little possibility of escaping their mother's fate or for creating another type of life. Over 3 years of living in the brothels, Zana built relationships with the community and started 'Kids With Cameras' to educate and empower the children via photography. In 2003, Zana came out a with a movie -- Born Into Brothels -- that has won over 17 awards, to raise awareness about the cause.
