What's been happening around here

everything and nothing.

Nathaniel (b/c once a milestone is reached he goes for them all)
9/1 - Crawls (told you all about that)
9/3 - Is that a tooth?
9/5 - Yep.  It is.  Oh shit.
9/9 - You've got to be kidding me.  There's another tooth.
9/12 - Huh!  So you can stand can you.  Well.  Well.
9/18 - Thinks he's big shit.  Now he stands up and lets go of the furniture.
This kid is crazy.  He's still behind Moira in his development.  But he's trying to catch up... to Ella.  He's routinely tackling her now.  And it doesn't matter what she does.  If she's looking at him and doing something, it's hilarious.  He busts a gut laughing at her.  It's pretty darn funny.

Ella (not as much but interesting)
The imagination has blossomed.  The space between our ottoman and wall in the living room is now "the garden".  The entry way is "the jungle".  Wearing a bib makes Ella a doctor.  She had a detailed conversation with Rich a couple of nights ago about monsters.  I'm talking a 30 minute discussion about them.  She's afraid and Rich explained they are more afraid of her.  He told her to point at them and laugh and they'll run away.  Or to touch one.  She said "I'm not going to touch one."  (Drawing out the "I'm".)  She's going to bed easier now and generally sleep throughout the night without incident.  The scaredy cat phase may be over for now.  The potty training has gotten back on track.  Rich explained that when there are no more mistakes she can go to school.  She's fired up about that and talks about "no stakes" and going to school.  I don't know if she's on pace, behind or ahead, but she knows most of the alphabet now by sight and phonetically.  My most wonderful sister-in -law and brother sent Leap Frog videos for the kids (The Letter Factory and Math Circus).  I've put huge "ABC's" and "123's" on the living room wall (b/c we don't have any art here and aren't bringing it over now).  She'll look up and point making the "F" sound and then say "F".  It's awesome.  Another, crazy weird thing.  We were playing my version of hopscotch the other day.  (Draw the boxes, number them and jump.  Forget the rest.)  She counted to 11 on her own.  It blew me away.  Rich didn't believe me at first when I told him about it.  (Then he heard her recite the alphabet and came around.  Hah!)  But it really freaking happened.  It was CRAZY!

The parents of monsters described above
Rich is working his tail end off.  Not on our house.  He's making money and that's all that matters.  With the money we can finish the house.  He's tired most of the time, but still getting at least a little quality time daily with the kiddos.

I'm doing okay.  Still trying to figure out how to be an awesome employee, mother and wife without letting anyone down, let alone myself.  Work is keeping me busy.  The kids ar keeping me busy.  I have weak abdominal/core muscles which are keeping my back pain around.  Been going to PT sessions a couple of times a week for the last few weeks.  My back still hurts.  We're trying to strengthen my abdomenal muscles now.  With any luck I can get past this soon.  Because my back freaking hurts and I'm fed up.  All things considered... life is good.  I know it.  I'll try not to complain about the icky parts.  :o)

Love to you all.

nathaniel, ella
