A Mutant Saga Vignette: Meanwhile Back in the Future

Mutants have controlled the world for several decades, their take over occurring after 1954 as a result of events that took place in a Nazi Space Base secreted in Antarctica. Non mutants, those without the mutant gene, are little more than slaves to their mutant oppressors. The last hold out of non mutants or humans is in Mexico where the last survivors of the human race have gathered. These are often the elite of the elite, often humans with genius level intellect, mystical abilities, super powers of non mutant origin, and the few non mutants / non humans still around.
In February 2011, the esoteric order of Team Volare, one of the factions within Mexico came up with a plan to change their past. They kidnapped the grandson of Toboden, who had the powers of opening portals through time and space. Using their powers of “persuasion” they forced the mutant to open a portal to Antarctica in 1954 and sent one of their own, a scientist by the name of Dark Matter, back in time to change the future.
Nothing happened. One month later intel brought grave news. The mutants had discovered Team Volare’s plan and had built, ironically using science, a machine capable of sending people back in time. Mutants were dispatched to the year 1978 to make sure the current present remained in place.
To counter act this, Team Volare once again dragged their mutant teleporter out of his dingy cell and after “talking” to him forced him to open a portal to 1978. Pimpy, himself, wielding the mighty Foam Bringer, ancient weapon of Team Volare, stepped into the portal back in time.
And again nothing happened. Pimpy has now been gone for an entire week.
Then news rocked the world. A mysterious figure had emerged from the wilderness near Austria. He marched up to the palace of Panzer, the leader of all mutantkind, demanding an audience, and announcing himself as Jacob Long. When he was refused, he fought through dozens of mutants into the heart of the palace, and there confronted in single combat the mighty, unstoppable and invulnerable Panzer … and prevailed. Taking the spear from Panzer’s grasp and stabbing the mutant through the heart.
Turmoil and revolt wracked the mutant nations as Panzer’s lieutenants began squabbling and jockeying for power, trying to take a spot that no one ever foresaw becoming available. One such mutant, one of Panzer’s oldest and wisest lieutenants decided that maybe it was time for peace. And so it was that Freeze, contacted the human resistance to begin negotiations.
Scheduled for May 24th, 2009 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Kublacon located in the Hyatt Hotel at Burlingame!
Edit: This takes place in the alternate Dark Future Timeline which has hopefully been averted by the actions that took place in Volume I and Volume II. Think of it as a alternate timeline now. If the events that took place in Volume I and Volume II had not occurred, this is how the future would have turned out. It is not how Volume's III through V will be going.
