Yeah, it's been quite some time since I've done anything on this site. Some things have changed, and some things haven't... but things are good.
I don't think I posted during the midst of the whole battle of the bands thing, so here it is.
We entered the contest, and thanks to online voters, we won a spot in the preliminary rounds. So all was good, we practiced every day, the same 20 minute over and over until we could play the shit in our sleep. And there were alot of people that came down to support us! And it seems as though they were crazier then anyone in the city... (at least that night...) because we were blessed with the first pit of the night, courtesy of Dylan and Greg! And they kept the shit rollin.
So we played the show. And it was strange, while in the green room, right before we went on stage, I was very nervous/exited, I wanted to win, I thought that was the main goal of this show... so we got out there.
We began the show, and it was a little tense, we took a little bit longer to set up then anticipated, but it was all good. We started the first and I had to force it a little bit at first, but then I just said fuck it and put as much as I could into it.
The thing that hindered us the most, (but kept us from disqualification), was the stage manager barking at me that we were almost out of time every three seconds, Stressin my ass out hardcore! Well, about the middle of the third of a four song set, he told us we have ten minutes. So the frantic attempts at communication began, trying to formulate a backup plan with everybody while onstage in the middle of a song and still trying to put on a good show...
We would headbang our way over to each other and give the time updates. And half way through the last song, we were given a two-minute warning with about 3-5 minutes left in the song. So I'm freaking out, thinking that we're going to be disqualified. But we managed to let everybody(exept joe) know to cut song off at the next four count. And we cut it very very close...
We placed fourth at the show. And only the top two bands moved forward from the show, with one WILDCARD band being chosen online as we speak. WE spent most of the week at number one, but we fell far last night, and it's looking kind of bleak, but it's all good.
When we got off stage, I had a new feeling. I honestly didn't care if we won or lost. I was completely content, we had played what I felt was the best show to this point, and alot of people were getting into the music, and that's what it's about, not winning or losing, or money, or popularity. It's about playing with your heart, and connecting with anybody willing to listen.
Oh yeah, and I got fired from my job. But it's all good. That yuppy piece fo shit can go fuck himself.
Keep it metal,
