Who bears/shares the true responsibility of a crime? Criminal who was once a child who never knew how to even hold a knife till s/he watched/was taught.
The cost of a prison is just not equal to the expenses on paper. It is also a sum of the cost an individual has to pay of being born in the society and the cost a society MUST pay to lead(not stop) the individual towards(from) crossing the lines defined by it.
Prisoners are the failed(as per the definition of right/wrong by contemporary law) experiments of society and need to be studied as equally as its great men.
