Dull. So very dull.

There was not a day that passed by that he did not curse his fate. This existence, so inhuman, so deathly, so apathetic. Some might think it was amazing to be able to be part of history, to be there year after year, losing every tie to humanity. He thought it was useless. Human beings bored him to death. Being able to read their minds, nothing succeeded in surprising him. Everything was so expected, so foreseen. Each day, he sat down in the courtyard and watched the sunrise. The colours still held something magical, as if they were promising him something special soon.

But that promise was broken, time after time.

Alice usually tried to make him smile. She urged him to laugh. Likewise, Esme wanted him to find someone to share it all. However, what was left to share? He was a monster. He did not deserve anyone. Fate had told him that. He was condemned to an eternal life -or death or nothingness, whatever it was- in loneliness.

He was used to pretending. He was used to making everyone believe an image, a prejudice, a mirror of himself. A fake and corrupted mirror. His human part was gone since that day when he had been turned, since that time when her mother had died. She had asked Carlislie to save him, but… she had made a mistake. This was not rescue. He cared deeply for Carlislie, and his vampire family. He did. Deeply. But it was not enough. They had their own… lives. They were lovely couples, living an everlasting honeymoon everyday. Kisses, silly smiles, hugs, sweet words.

He did not deceive himself. He was not meant to that. He was a monster, meant to fight, to kill, to just exist. It was ironic, though. He did not kill. He was not even fulfilling his essential purpose.

He was useless.

He did not exist.

Nonetheless, the piano kept been played in the background.
