You know, looking back on my most recent entries, it seems like my life's been pretty uneventful. Which is pretty misleading! I've been having pretty awesomely fun days and maybe I should use my own journal to write about them yeah??
And I used to do RAINBOW entries! Woo!
I saw Green Day at the Shoreline this past Saturday and it was amazing to say the least! They're definitely amazing to see live and even if you're not a hardcore fan that follows all of their new, trendy stuff (like yours truly) you'd still have a blast! I would say that their show was 50/50, split between the old stuff and the new stuff. But ya know, it didn't even matter! It was ALL amazing! The entire time I was thinking "this cost me $20?? AWESOME!"
I finally quit my job. Oh yes, I finally grew a ball sac (GROSS) and gave them my two weeks notice. (Yeah I didn't go out with a bang like I had previously hoped but hey. I got ovaries, not balls. I do it the classy way). And honestly, ever since I quit, I've been SO INCREDIBLY HAPPY that I don't ever remember feeling this happy even before I got the job! I swear, I'm breathing better. I'm thinking more clearly. My stomach doesn't hurt so regularly. I'm on the moon! And I get Saturdays off now? Without feeling guilty???? No way! I haven't had this feeling since high school. Way to go me!
I discovered this amazingly old movie theater in palo alto that plays movies from the 1930s and 40s. Being an avid fan of that era in film (okay, I'm actually borderline obsessed with that era!) I yipeed like a little girl when I found it! I looked at their schedule and found that they were going to play Easter Parade, one of my all-time favorite movies there on a Wednesday and I SO wanted to go. When the big sissy heard about it she wanted to come too so we all went! And oh my gosh. I nearly had a heart attack. The theater was absolutely GORGEOUS, inside and out, and it had a balcony and an old organ that was played during silent films in the 1920s. Seriously. I was about to puke with happiness. We're going again this Friday to see "Shall We Dance", a movie I haven't seen yet but I know it won't suck. It stars one of my great loves *look at icon*. YES!
Gio and I went to go see one of our very favorite bands called the Juliana Theory about two weeks ago. They broke up like 6 years ago and they decided to do a reunion tour because one of their albums turned ten years old. SOOOO I drove us down to San Fran, parked next to a park and had an AMAZING time getting sweaty jumping around and getting sore throats from screaming. Even after all of these years they STILL know how to kick ass. Then afterwords Gio and I realized that there are about a million parks in San Fransisco so we ended up getting lost for about 30 minutes walking around in circles. It was pretty awesome. San Fran is definitely where you want to be all alone walking around at night with the hobos..... After a while of panicked laughter we found my beautiful car and got home around 1. I got a beautiful shirt that I slept in that night. =)
August was definitely concert month. I went to another one with the boyfriend called Rock the Bells in Mountain View. It's basically a hip hop festival for those of us who don't follow underground hip hop too often. That was pretty fun too! I love going to concerts with him because he buys me lots of food. I'm such a fatty ;D But you know, it was a totally different experience then the green day concert which took place in the same venue. People weren't really there for the music. Everyone just sat around (while someone was performing on the stage) and got drunk and smoked pot. The guys behind us were trying to sell some to us and to everyone that walked by. It was really annoying. There were a couple of girls in front of us who were literally walking around in bathing suits. By night time it was pretty cold and they were shivering in their little groups. Seriously girls, did you not think about that before you decided to come half naked?? Call me old fashioned but I always thought people spent $50 on a concert to actually see the concert. Oh well. We left early and still got home around midnight. Fun fun.
I'M IN LOVE WITH SCHOOL HOLY CRAP! Now that I have no job, it's like a whole world of opportunity just opened up right in front of me! I don't know how I'm going to do this but I've got to. I'm taking the hardest class offered by the anthropology department called Human Osteology. Since this is basically what I want to do for the rest of my life I'm determined to get the top score in the class. I got a 100% on my first quiz which isn't a bad start (mwahaha!) but now we've moved to the cranial bones and my mind is about to burst. I love that feeling!!! Work with Dr. Weiss will resume around late October but in the meantime I'll be working with Dr. Leventhall on a burial site that he's been trying to catalog for ages. Because I have such kick ass anthro buddies we'll all get to help him out this semester! I really hope I get my own specimens this time. "That would be sweeet..."
Field school anybody??? I've been looking around because I have to apply to a field school for this upcoming summer session. There's one being held at Notre Dame that I really love but one of my own professors is running one and he's guaranteeing me a spot. It's in the Caribbean. How could I pass that up? BUT it's more archaeology related rather than bone related and if I want to get into a good graduate program I need the bone field school. I told him this and he was like "I'll give you bones to examine! I'm sure we'll find some...." Ay dios mio... We'll see XD
I've been going to the beach a lot so my back right shoulder is peeling and I have a really weird t-shirt/ tank top/ bathing suit tan. For my papa's bday we went to the beach and that was pretty fun! My favorite part of it all though was getting yummy ice cream at the end of the night. My dad drives like a friggin maniac so there's nothing like cold, mint chocolate ice cream to sooth car sickness! I've gone plenty of times with the boyfriend too. He bought this sun tent that you can pitch in the sand and that was HILARIOUS trying to put up. We buy picnic food so we just enjoy our potato salad on "our" private beach while watching the freezing waves come and go. We once went when it was super cloudy and this fog swept over us like soft rain. It was seriously beautiful. Then another time we climbed tons of rock cliffs and discovered an abandoned railroad. We carved our names on the side of it cause we're huge dorks <3
Oh yeah, we had our two year anniversary on July 21st and we spent it at the beach. I don't even like the beach all that much but for some reason I really like it when we're by ourselves and there are things to look at, like giant cliffs, fish and moving fog. And of course, having him there makes it a lot more fun too.
CRAP it's past my bedtime! I still gotta do some yoga and brushing of teeth. Fooey. I shall continue this soon.....
