Yesterday I ran without intervals. This is huge my friends.
It was my first attempt at just listening to my body and running. I really wanted to try a tempo run to see what pace I could keep up. I decided early on to do about 40-50 minutes of attempted "tempo" and then just finish out the rest as I could. My goal for the day was 7 miles.
Well I didn't quite make my suggested tempo pace but I still had fun and ended up running quite a bit. I think if my walks would have been faster I would have been right on the money. Also considering that I had a killer stadium workout on Tuesday and my legs are quite tired, I am even amazed that I achieve my 7 mile goal. I considered it a pretty productive day.
I ended up using my tempo time and running about 0.65-0.70 miles and then walking 0.20 miles. This is huge considering that i was running more than 3/4 of the time when I am only accustomed to running 1/2 of the time.
I am excited about my upcoming Half Marathon and can't wait to start the Couch to 5K program with Sarah after. I am hoping to build some running endurance before tackling marathon training. I do need to find one more half marathon before the year is up. Any suggestions?
