Today's Tip is going to focus on keeping your hands safe and warm.
Let me share with you the valuable lesson I learned during the 2008 Museum of Aviation Half Marathon.
Tip Tuesday... Buy Some Gloves
So I ran the Museum of Aviation Half Marathon on January 19, 2008, just 7 days after running the Disney Half Marathon. These two races couldn't be more different. Disney was hot and humid while Museum was 40 degrees and raining.
By mile 11 my hands were so cold that they were turning red. At that point all I was doing was counting down the number of miles left until I could get into the building and change into something warm. By the time I reached the finish line my hands were so frozen that I couldn't even grip a pencil to fill out my finishers card.
Buy Gloves People.
I went to my local running store and these are the gloves I ended up buying. They didn't have too many choices but these seemed to do the trick.
Let me warn you, these are running gloves and running gloves only. They will not keep your hands warm if you are not running. Walking won't even do the trick. I have found that you need to be performing physical activity to get your blood moving in order for these to keep your hands warm.
But boy when you are running, they work great. I have used these several times and they are working for me. Probably not the best glove out there and not the one that I will keep for ever, but they are good for now.
Oh and they are great and wiping your nose during a cold run too. LOL I bought mine in blue!
