be thankful

so... my family has this thing where we believe there are various foods that are absolutely necessary to have at thanksgiving. your family probably has this too, except that my family keeps adding onto this list.

THE FOOD: 20 lbs. turkey, mashed potatoes (instant, hah), gravy, stuffing (with and without celery for my dad's cousin), potato salad, chinese chicken salad, onion-green bean casserole, lumpia (filipino eggrolls, kinda), pancit (filipino noodles), a ham, white rice, bbq boneless short ribs, meatballs, cranberry sauce, sourdough/veggies/chips and spinich dip/guacamole, deviled eggs.

DESSERT: three layer jello (red, custard, macadamia nut/graham cracker), 4 pumpkin pies, apple pie, bibinka (i dont know how to describe this beyond "great"), buccie (fried coconut paste covered in brown sugar sauce), oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

the meatballs were new... and now necessary. as was the apple pie and extra bbq. last year it was deviled eggs and the extra stuffing. at this rate, we'll have enough food to feed 100 people in a couple years instead of just 22 (which is how many people crammed into our house today).

i love my family and seeing them all... or most of them at least.

tomorrow my dad and sister are going xmas shopping for all the early sales. i might tag along, but i always say that and end up not going at all. pfft, whatever.

saturday my cousin kyle is becoming an eagle scout and his mom has invited ~150 people to witness it and have a huge party. should be fun times. i get to see my mom's side!

also, i got my new comp! its pretty nifty. this weekend will be spent ripping all of my cd's onto it. i only have about a dozen left to go... i dont own so many cds, probably bec i stopped buying them four years ago. weird how my taste has changed and i dont even want some of these cds anymore. meh.

wireless is fun.

thanksgiving, family, home
