It didn't take long before things got interesting here in bloomington, IN. I started bartending about 6 weeks ago and thought it was cool...until thursday night when a customer pulled out a gun and threatened to kill everyone in the bar. Here's what was printed in the local paper today....
POLICE INVESTIGATING GUN INCIDENT AT BAR
"A 41-year-old Bloomington man was momentariy detained but not taken into police custody early Friday morning after reportly pulling out a gun at The Other Bar.
A Bloomington police report written by officer Tracy Headley gave the following account: Several witnesses at the 414 S. Walnut St. bar reported the man had been making remarks about suicide.
Moments later, according to a patron who had been playing pool with the man, he pulled out a .45 caliber handgun and threatened to kill himself and shoot everyone in the bar.
The bartender (that would be me) saw a struggle between the two men and then saw the man who had threatened suicide raise the handgun over his head and walk out the back door around 12:15 a.m.
Police surrounded a nearby camper where they were told the man had gone, and the man emerged without the weapon. They handcuffed him, searched the camper and seized what they believed was the handgun wielded at the bar. It was loaded.
The man denied that he had made threats about killing himself or anyone else. He was not arrested or taken to the Bloomington Hospital.
The incident is still under investigation.
Needless to say, after that night I quit my bartending job....
