Last night I met up with an old ex from Cambridge, only to find that he is now working in the world of meeeedja (mainly comedy/writers/tv) and is Jimmy Carr's agent. He gave me industry Boosh gossip ;o)

We went to this gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, The Secret Machines, which was a little disappointing (after the other amazing gigs I've been to recently) as they lacked performance abilities and stood dead on stage with pretty light shows behind them to compensate. They had some great rhythms and riffs, but you couldn't hear much of the melody or lyrics. It was a blur of sound. I preferred their newer stuff though, a definite improvement. They're quite raw at the moment, but with a bit of work they could do well. I think most people at the gig were actually from the record label. However, the best bit was the VIP free bar at the aftershow party, mmm. Sadly I couldn't make the most of it as I'm on paracetamol-based drugs, but the idea was great.

Btw, the Chief Exec of Warner Music UK was pointed out to me, and he looks totally different to what you'd expect - don't want to be libellous, but I probably wouldn't have sat next to him if I saw him on the bus.

We had a slight awkward moment when my ex mentioned us getting back together again, having not seen each other for 3 years and he being single as of 3 weeks. Warning signals fired off, a pretty bad idea, no? I think we may be mates still, but nothing more. However, his friend from the record label who got us the tickets and had organised the gig was lovely!! Baz dragged this out of me, and has mentioned setting us up, but I think that was all talk. How complicated life is...
