Shona (friend and flatmate from Uni) came over from Huddersfield last night, we made home made pizza (tomato puree and pizza toppings on Naan bread) and watched old eps of Mock the Week.

Today we went into Manchester on the train, and went to the Manchester Museum to see the Lindow Man a bog body (ancient body preserved in waterlogged conditions such as bogs or peat), and then the Museum of Science and Industry to see Body Worlds 4.

The Lindow Man exhibit was free, but quite disappointing. More information on the campaign to get the body back to Manchester (where it was discovered) than there was on the body itself, the period in which the man lived or other bog bodies, which was what we were expecting.

On the other hand, I would definately recommend the Body Worlds exhibit. Well set out, lots of interesting information, both on human biology, and the history of the study of anatomy, and, all of the bodies are real ones, yet are not all that freaky. Well worth the £10 entrance fee (£8 concessions), and the rest of the museum is also really good (and free).
It's open until August 17. Go see it if you can!

We went to the Malthouse Farm (local pub) for tea, and are now drinking alcohol and watching old episodes of Top Gear and QI. Tomorrow we're going to see Wall-E before Shona has to go home.

films, friends
